Hebichi and Jacky and Spin and Sonny and Maz and Cattail and I went to sail on the DAPPER CAPYBARA for a few days, so a bunch of Nelson-captain's weasels went to VULTURE QUEEN JILL so they wouldn't be SHORT-HANDED. Cattail was really PROUD that he counts as a CREW MEMBER and somebody has to take over for him when he's not there. He's doing a REALLY good job helping on the DAPPER CAPYBARA, too. You're a good sailor, Cattail!
When the ships got together, Boogie jumped on Pixie and stole all her LEGS, but Pixie was READY this time. When Boogie was sticking the legs ON, Pixie pulled her antlers OFF and slithered away! Boogie looked ridiculous because Pixie's legs aren't as long as MOOSE legs, so they didn't reach the ground, and Pixie looked ridiculous because moose antlers are HUGE. They both laughed so much they fell over and couldn't breath, and the capybaras had to go sniff them to make sure they were OK. You're both ridiculous!
After that, they swapped everything back and said they wouldn't do piracies on each other's BODIES any more, but I don't know if that's true. It might be like when Bina said they wouldn't tease Hebichi and me any more. They mean it now, but they'll FORGET when they want to be ridiculous again.
The other funny thing that happened on the expedition is that Nico finally heard people saying he's Maa-uu's SWEETHEART. I thought he might be grouchy, but he said, "Oh no! Why didn't you tell me? I would have brought you more veggies! How long have we been dating? Is it our ANNIVERSARY?" and was REALLY nice to Maa-uu. I think the people who spilled the beans thought they made a MISTAKE, because Nico is being a good sweetheart to Maa-uu, and not to any of the other people who said he's the nicest and prettiest. I don't think they're REALLY sweethearts, because ultra-modern people and tricers are really DIFFERENT, but it's funny to watch them being CUTE.
We did lots of fun stuff in the Awake World too. Number-dad came to Drawing Group and posed really COOL and drew some other people who posed and showed people how to use different STRENGTHS of lines. He's going to start teaching MANGA classes soon!
Because my bike FITS better, I ALMOST wiped out going over the big jump on the new track, but I DIDN'T and I was 3RD. Sahara was 2nd, so it was a good race for KITTENS!
We went swimming LOTS, not just at the pool but at the lake too. Tiny Squeak isn't very good at SWIMMING, but she's good at FLOATING and paddles around a little bit with her baby group friends. Everybody cheers for her when they see her paddling, because she's the BEST songkitten. We played softball and volleyball and soccer and lacrosse, but we aren't doing many games as Purpleberry Ice Cream. It's not a very ORGANIZED year for sports.
Sahara and Simoun and Humboldt cooked SALMON CURRY for us and it was DELICIOUS. Dmitri and Dragon-mom cooked fried blue rice with sausage and veggies and that was REALLY good too. Number-dad and I made tuna steaks, but they didn't turn out just right. I think we cooked them too long and our spices were too EXPERIMENTAL. It'll be better next time.
TINY SQUEAK CAN WALK!
She stood there squeaking at leaves, and then she took a step with EVERY paw, and stood in a DIFFERENT place squeaking at leaves! Then she tried to catch a leaf with BOTH hands so she fell on her face and cried, but that was REAL walking! Good job, Mlle. Squeaks!
When they heard, Toka ran over really fast to see their Squeaky Potato Friend walk, but she didn't do any more walking. I think she was GROUCHY because of falling on her face. She climbed into Toka's lap and squeaked at them really nice, though, so everybody was happy.
After dinner, Tiny Squeak did ANOTHER walk. She took a bunch of steps and fell over on the edge of her blanket and fell asleep. Good job putting yourself to bed, Tiny Squeak!
Everybody is REALLY happy. I think VV-gram was a little bit WORRIED that Tiny Squeak was taking so long to learn to walk, but now everything is OK.
Tiny Squeak has been getting better at walking, and now she can walk on a SHIP. She walked across the deck of DAPPER CAPYBARA and tried to eat Nelson-captain's LEG. He tried to be really SERIOUS and scold her for biting a SUPERIOR OFFICER, but he was too proud of her. It was really CUTE. Go, go, Tiny Walks!
Today is World Improvement Day. All the social responsibility groups set up their booths in the parks and all the people who like BBQ set up their grills and people played music and it was really NICE. Dmitri went to help Jeanne at the Unstoppable Doctors booth in the spider park. They were really cute together! I thought maybe they were less romantic after Dmitri put his fur back on at vernal equinox, but I think they're just DIFFERENTLY romantic. Blond Dmitry came to help with the Tiger Help Tiger booth, and made friends with Chawky Tiger and Tumbles Tiger and Ghostly Tiger and Black Paws Tiger and Tiara Tiger and got CHEWED ON but he's an ultra-modern kid so it didn't bother him. Hebichi and Spin and I helped Heather-auncle and Mr. Bear at the Ethical Agricultural Institute booth, and helped Number-dad with BBQ, and carried bottles of water and juice for lots of people and helped EVERYBODY.
It was cloudy all day, but it was still hot and HUMID. It wasn't very nice, but we drank a MASQUILLION liters of watermelon juice and then in the evening some REFRESHING wind came in and moved the clouds out of the way so we could see the FIREWORKS. That was a lot better!
In the afternoon, the ELEPHANT STREET CHOIR gave the music. We had portable BLEACHERS to stand up on so nobody was blocked and we SANG UP A STORM. Except the clouds were going AWAY, so maybe we sang up a CLEAR SKY. We did all the songs we practiced, and then people asked us to sing some of them again. I didn't get to do anything special like at the orchestra recital, but it was a lot of fun singing with everybody and I think we did a really GOOD job. HURRAY ELEPHANT STREET!
I gave a little bit of money to LOTS of different social responsibility groups again. I think maybe I gave money to Ocean Sweepers twice by accident, but that's OK. They do really good work to get POLLUTION out of the oceans!
This year we got to give suggestions for the fireworks and maybe they listened to my suggestions because there were a lot of ANIMALS, like dinos and flying dragons and octos! It was REALLY cool. Hebichi and their family had to go watch with their cousins, but Spin's family came to the special bear-gram spot and I got to flop on my back with Spin's head on my tummy to watch the fireworks, and it made me REALLY happy. I like Spin a lot, even if I got embarrassed when the tigers TEASED us. They didn't tease us very much because they were distracted by Tiny Squeak walking. Thank you, Tiny Squeak!
Tiny Squeak can walk all the way across the living room of the Gram House to EAT my TAIL. I wish she didn't bite so HARD, but I'm glad she's getting better at walking!
The night after World Improvement Day, I dreamed about visiting Isaac Mewton on the Space Train. It's been a long time so I felt bad, but he was glad to see me anyway. The Space Train is almost to MARS, so he's been doing lots of CALCULUS to make sure they get there with their ASTEROID that they caught. It isn't a very big asteroid, but that sounds like it was REALLY scary. I'm glad I didn't dream about being on a DEAD space train that got crushed by the asteroid! We played foosball in the gravity part of the train, and I told Isaac about our SAILING expedition. It seems like it's not as great as going in SPACE, but we find a lot more islands and meet a lot more strange creatures. Isaac has never met a SNAKE, so he didn't understand why Danger Noodle Island was so scary until I showed him some pictures that Rei took. Maybe there will be snakes on Mars. I don't know what the Dreamlands of Mars are like.
Last night I dreamed about my ZOO. Everything was going really GOOD, and lots of people were visiting, and all the animals were drinking enough WATER and staying in the SHADE when they needed to. I was happy to see that everybody was OK, even the bunnies, and everybody was happy to see me, but I felt a little weird that they didn't NEED me. The zoo can be OK on its own, and that gives me COMPLICATED feelings.
Even though I felt bad about not seeing Isaac for so long and had complicated feelings about my zoo, it was a good week because World Improvement Day was really SUCCESSFUL and Tiny Squeak learned how to WALK.
It was a good expedition week, too, even though we didn't find any islands that were EXCITING like Hollow Mountain Island or Death Noodle Island. Lots of the islands we found had coconut trees and banana trees and all different kinds of fruit trees and lots of fresh water, and some of them had little ANTELOPES, so we had lots of fresh PROVISIONS. One of the islands had little ELEPHANTS, only as big as Cattail even though they looked grownup, but they were really SHY even when we sang the Let's All Be Friends Song. Cattail and Zigzag wanted to make friends, but we couldn't stay long enough for the little elephants to get used to us. Maybe on the way back!
I tried to figure out how to MAKE Dreamlands places, but it doesn't make ANY sense. I think maybe there's a way to BRING places from the Awake World, like bringing presents to my dream friends, but I don't think the sheepies have an ISLAND. I'm not going to ask them, because they LAUGHED at me. I'm going to figure it out MYSELF and then I'll get better at it than them!
I dreamed that Max and I were STANDING UP kids, and we went to the park on the edge of the Dreamlands to visit Koo and her little sister Janice and her friend Hideyoki and the MICRORAPTORS. Pierce and the Mushroom Sisters were there too, and after getting PETTED for a while, they went and got Tiny Squeak. Everybody was so proud of Tiny Squeak for learning to walk, and talked about how GREAT babies are. The baby microraptors can't fly yet, but they can climb on branches and yell at people. They didn't expect Tiny Squeak to yell back, though! One was so surprised they fell right off the tree, but Max caught them and put them back. I think THAT one is going to be Tiny Squeak's friend Miggie.
When Koo and Janice and Hideyoki had to go to dinner, and Tiny Squeak had to go back to her mom for nursing, Max and I went behind the park to find the pile of tarps that's a secret entrance to the BLANKET CAVES. We wiggled through the blankets until we were CATS again and got lost and found a really NICE scent and followed it until we came to the little room where SKY KITTEN dreams. Cattail was there too, and they were dreaming about eating CINNAMON ROLLS. Sky Kitten was so happy to see us she shrieked crumbs EVERYWHERE. It was gross and funny, but then Cattail snorfed them all up with his TRUNK.
Max was REALLY glad to see Sky Kitten, because she didn't get to go to Cat Day. She pinned her down and washed her head like a good big sister and Sky Kitten squacked and wiggled around and hit me in the face with her RAINBOW TAIL a lot. Then we sat down with Cattail and all ate cinnamon rolls together and talked about all kinds of things. Sky Kitten isn't back to the valley of 5 Grams yet, because her mom and the other cats who went to Cat Day went to Dragon-mayor's city to look at things and BUY things. They're getting lots of BOOKS so they can learn all kinds of things, and TOOLS so they can make their caves even COZIER, and a FEW toys. They went to lot of museums and an OPERA and a ZOO too, and watched some movies and ate in nice restaurants and met LOTS of cats, but now they're almost done. I think Sky Kitten and Mimble and Tosi are glad, because they miss their own cave and the rest of their family and maybe their STEGO FRIENDS. It's really brave of you to spend so much time travelling, guys!
I'm SAD I didn't get to go with Sky Kitten the first time she went to my zoo and saw all the animals, but I hope I can dream about being in the city before she leaves so I can take her again.
The OTHER important thing is that Sky Kitten says she's 3 now. She doesn't have a special day for getting older, she just FEELS like a 3-year-old. HURRAY SKY KITTEN!
It's the ANNIVERSARY of the day the Bear-grams went into space, so we sent them a VIDEO of all of us talking about our expedition and all the fun things we're doing in the Awake World and Tiny Squeak WALKING and squeaking everywhere and Zora showed off some of her new Magic Fighting techniques and we blew them a masquillion KISSES and said we MISS them but we're glad they're HELPING people on Mars. Big Sam and Rei and I CRIED a little bit, but not until we were done with the video. The Bear-grams aren't my parents or my grams, but I love them and it makes me MELANCHOLY for them to be so far away maybe I'll never get to hug them again.
I hugged all the people I love who I could reach and told them I'll ALWAYS love them. They said they'll always love me, and that made me feel better.
When I dreamed about being on VULTURE QUEEN JILL, I hugged everybody there and told them I'll always love them. Lots of them ALREADY heard that, but Explorobot and Maa-uu and Podge and the capybaras and everybody hadn't. I asked if we could get together with the other ships, and Rei and Nico-captain and Humboldt and everybody said that was a really GOOD idea. I got to hug a lot more people and tell them I love them and explain about the Bear-grams being far away. Theo and Mlle. Floofypaws and Nameko helped the grownups SIT on me and WASH my face. It made me feel LOTS better!
We didn't find any islands today. Nelson-captain said the sonar shows we're going over DEEP water again, so we're probably going to have open ocean for a while before we get to another ARCHIPELAGO. That means a BUNCH of islands that are together.
The weasels tried to scare us by telling stories of MONSTERS that live in the deepest ocean and come up to EAT ships. I think the stories were MADE UP, but they were scary anyway. There are really monsters in the Dreamlands, and the bottom of the ocean is the kind of place they'd live. VV-gram saw I was WORRIED and said she wouldn't let monsters eat any of her kittens or her GRAND-kittens or her FRIENDS, but if a monster big enough to SWALLOW a ship came up, I don't know if she could stop it. That's TOO BIG. She made the weasels stop telling scary stories, but it was TOO LATE.
Nelson-captain and his crew have been sailing for YEARS and never gotten eaten or even really saw a monster that big, so it was dumb of me to get scared, but I couldn't help it. I think I'm not brave enough to be in the Exploration Club.
When I woke up, I wasn't scared of ocean monsters, but I still felt bad. I stayed next to Hebichi all day because they make me feel BETTER. We talked about fiddling and singing and skateboarding, and I tried teaching them the Get Over There Faster Song, and then we DID singing and fiddling, and I wasn't scared any more. I hope I'm not scared when I go to sleep. Maybe I can dream about being on DRY LAND just in case.
Number-dad and Max and Annabelle and I dreamed about being in Dragon-mayor's city with SKY KITTEN. It was the last day before they were going to leave for 5 Grams Valley, so we were just in time! The grownups were PACKING to leave tomorrow, and they were really glad for somebody to take care of the little kittens. We took Sky Kitten and Mimble and Tosi to get ice cream at Basking Shark 311 Flavors and then we went to my ZOO. They went there before, but they liked going again, and yelled nihao to all the animals and cuddled the bunnies and played with the piggies and capybaras and told me that Wembley is HUGE and had LOTS of fun. Toka and Cattail were there too, and Toka liked telling the little kittens about the animals. Some of what they said was MADE UP, but that's OK. It was all nice!
Zsuzsy was there and that made me happy because soon she's going to COLLEGE and won't be able to work at the zoo as much. She's going to read ANIMAL SCIENCES AND CONSERVATION so she can be a REAL zookeeper. Reading is the fancy way they say studying for a certificate at her college. We all gave her a masquillion hugs and kisses and said someday she'll be like Rathbrun-mayor. Maybe she'll be in charge of this zoo, or maybe she'll have her OWN zoo. You have a bright future ahead of you, Zsuzsanna!
When the young kittens got worn out from running around yelling at animals, we rode the train back to the city and sat in the park and cheered for Jeanne and LN and Blond Dmitry and everybody to be fierce at DRAGONBALL and then took everybody to dinner at Mongolia BBQ. Tosi REALLY likes Blond Dmitry and sat in his lap the whole time. It was really cute!
The grownup cats were really glad to get kittens that were all full and tired out and ready to go to sleep instead of getting in the way of packing, and said thank you to us a whole bunch. I'm sad to only get 1 day with Sky Kitten and the others, but maybe I can dream about visiting her in the Blanket Caves, or flying to her valley in the Mars Boat. I love you, tail-sister Sky Kitten!
Oh NO! I heard Tuesday was CAPYBARA APPRECIATION DAY and I missed it! I have to make sure it's an official zoo event EVERY year! I have to hug all my capybara friends! When I told Sahara I feel really BAD for missing the day, she said EVERY day is a good day to appreciate capybara friends, and that's TRUE, so I didn't feel so bad. I still want them to have a SPECIAL day, though.
I remembered to tell the capybaras about their special day for being APPRECIATED being on July 10. I don't know if they understand about calendars, but everybody gave them a masquillion hugs and treats, and they understood THAT.
We sailed over the deep water without getting EATEN, and then we were in shallower water with more ISLANDS. These islands had more CLIFFS around the shores, so it was hard to find places to LAND. Some of the little ones were taller than they were wide, so they were ALL CLIFFS. That makes it harder for animals like seals and water iguanas to live on them, but they had masquillions of BIRDS. Maybe they had TOO MANY birds, because Podge and their flock stayed close to VULTURE QUEEN JILL. If they went too far, a bunch of island birds would fly over and YELL at them. We'll protect you, Podge!
The bigger islands had lots of trees on top, so probably they had animals, but we couldn't explore them very much because of the cliffs. The Exploration Club made FACES at the cliffs. Probably everybody except Maa-uu could get up them, but it would take a long time and it would be hard to row a boat over except at quiet tide. That's not the expedition we're on, so we had to sail past all the islands.
We found a really INTERESTING creature, though! When the birds at the nearest island were all at home, Podge went out looking for squids to hunt, and we saw them dive down, but then they jumped back up really fast and it looked like their wing was HURT. That wasn't OK, so we sailed over there to get her! I thought there was going to be a chompy fish or maybe a squid that was TOO BIG for a gullie, but it was a LITTLE WHALE. He was like a CACHALOT, that's also called a sperm whale, but only as long as me! That was still big enough to eat a lot of squids and CLOBBER Podge when they got too close. He was a GROUCHY whale, too, because when our ship came over, he yelled at us to go away and stop RUSTLING his squids. I tried to sing the Let's All Be Friends Song so we could talk to him, but then a ROBOT came up to the surface and SHOT at us! It wasn't trying to hurt us, but that whale really didn't want us there, so we sailed away and left him with his squids!
In the Awake World, we told the pocket foxies about the whale, and they got really excited because they thought he was a POCKET whale. I said they would need a really BIG pocket and all the foxies laughed, but maybe they're RIGHT. I don't know if the other pocket animals build things, but that robot looked like the machines the pocket foxies make. They didn't know how a whale could make things without hands EITHER. It's MYSTERIOUS.
That pocket whale was really mean and I don't like him, but it still makes me anxious to think about PEOPLE who live in the ocean but are so small an orca could eat them in 1 bite. I hope their robots are strong against orcas! Maybe they can give the pengies at Northern Shores some anti-orca robots.
Nico said even in the Dreamlands, guns can shoot underwater by using something called SUPERCAVITATION. It's like making a BUBBLE in front of the bullet so it's not going through water that slows it down. That doesn't sound right to me, because the bullet still has to push the water at the front of the bubble, but Nico is really smart about underwater stuff.
Later I looked up supercavitation, and it works by making the bullet not have to touch the water hardly at all, so it's only pushing the water right in front of it and doesn't have drag the water with it on the sides. That KIND OF makes sense. Things going through water is called FLUID DYNAMICS and it's REALLY complicated.
Tiny Squeak took a long time to learn to walk, but now she's learning really FAST. She can't run yet, but she can walk all the way across our yard and JUMP on somebody's tail if it's hanging over the side of the porch. You're a mighty hunter, Tiny Squeak! Now you need to learn to talk!
VV-gram got a lot of Tiny Squeak's friends from baby group to come visit. She really wanted their PARENTS, but all the babies TODDLED around on our lawn and tried to eat each other and were really CUTE while the grownups sat on the porch and talked about grownup stuff. That was really BORING, so Hebichi and Humboldt and I played with the BABIES. They liked to eat US too, but they were really happy and funny and SQUISHY. I like babies. We all like babies!
I already wrote about a bunch of stuff that happened in the Dreamlands this week. Stuff happened in the Awake World too, but most of it was ORDINARY. It's a good season for growing. All my new teeth from under the ones that got KNOCKED OUT are done growing in and I lost some more that are getting new ones too. Pretty soon I'll have all my grownup teeth, and maybe then I'll learn magic BITING. I still don't want to hunt, but maybe it will help if I have to PROTECT people.
Hebichi is growing too. I noticed they always keep their SHIRT on now, instead of wearing just shorts like they used to, even when they're swimming. They didn't talk about it at first, but now I know it's because they're 11 and their MOM CHEST is starting. I think that's exciting and scary, and it isn't even MY body that's having a puberty! Hebichi is getting more grown up, but maybe they'll have to be a teenager and think about snogs instead of fun stuff. They're going to get TALLER and PRETTIER, though, and that's nice. Even if they turn into a teenager, I'll still LOVE them. You can't defeat our friendship, Puberty Monster!
It's weird for somebody with SCALES to have a mom chest, but Hebichi only looks like a little dragon on the OUTSIDE. On the inside, they're an ultra-modern person like the cousins. I asked them if they want to grow a big mom chest like Cara, but hermaphrodites don't usually, because they're boys as much as they are girls. They said they would be happy if they were as pretty as Poli. Poli's really pretty!
All the veggies in our farm are growing really good, and the FARM is growing too. We got some more land that used to be somebody's YARD but they moved away and said they'd like the land to be part of the farm. We had a meeting to decide what to plant there. Everybody had lots of ideas, so we couldn't decide, but maybe we're going to plant TREES for fruits and nuts. It will be an ORCHARD.
Tiny Squeak has learned to do PIRACIES. She grabs colorful things with her mouth and WALKS away with them to put them in her baby basket and CACKLES. It's really FRUSTRATING when I'm trying to draw and she steals my MARKERS, but I can't get mad at her because she's ADORABLE. Hurray for our TINIEST PIRATE!
I was back on VULTURE QUEEN JILL, but I heard Truffle's mom-bunny came to visit on DAPPER CAPYBARA. It was really good and none of the weasels or dragons tried to eat her because they're all really NICE, and and the sheepies shared some of their ISLAND VEGGIES with her, but then Boogie did a piracy on her EARS. Truffle squacked and tried to catch Boogie to get them back, but Boogie ran around and around the ship with everybody chasing her and it was RIDICULOUS. Truffle's mom has watched enough funny shows that she knew to turn around and run the other way, and she jumped right on Boogie's ANTLERS so they went down in a heap and she could steal her ears back. Good job, dramabun! I heard after that, everybody BEHAVED and they had a nice visit sitting ON Boogie until those cats went back to the Awake World.
We found a bunch more little cliffy islands, and then a really BIG one. We thought it might be a whole CONTINENT, even though Race-teacher said they hadn't seen any other continents on the way to Cat Day. The Dreamlands are mysterious enough to put new continents in the ocean! I don't know if it would be a new continent, or a continent that used to be somewhere else. I still don't even know that about Mastodon Valley. I asked Rose-auncle, and she said MU. That means the question doesn't make any SENSE. She tried to explain it to me, but I didn't understand. I need to learn that LINEAR TIME is an ILLUSION. That might be really ADVANCED magic, though. Maybe that's what I have to learn before I can make places or move them around.
Nelson-captain said he had a better feeling about going to PORT, so we sailed that way and pretty soon we found a nice place with a BEACH. All the weasels said it shows he has good INSTINCTS and that's why he's the captain, but I think really he flipped a COIN. We didn't check the other way, so we didn't know how close a beach was on the other side. I didn't get a chance to ask him, though. I didn't get a chance to ask Number-dad and Shoe-auncle to look, either, even though they got out their DRAGONFLY ORNITHOPTERS to survey the island. We wanted to go with them, but the ornithopters only carry as much as motorcycles, so they can fly further without resting if they only have 1 rider.
I REALLY want an ornithopter! Number-dad and Shoe-auncle were only about my age when they got a FLYING BOAT. I should find out where that boat got put. Maybe I can have it!
Shoe-auncle and Number-dad found out that we found an ISLAND and not a continent, and how big it was, and that there was a huge MESA with clouds and jungle in the middle of it, and maybe some people with FIRES on the other side. That was really exciting because we haven't found any people on this expedition! I'm not counting the mean pocket whale, because he was a person but we couldn't TALK to him.
The ornithopters could make it to the smoke on the other side of the island if they RESTED part-way, but all the grownups thought it would be better if we sailed there all together with the captains and the professional EXPLORERS and everybody all together, so it will be a while until we find out who's there.
Between when I was writing this, I went with Rose-auncle and VV-gram and Mlle. Squeaks to visit Clover-auncle and then we went across the street to visit at Hebichi's house. Tiny Squeak is a lot bigger than Toka's kittens now, so she did a piracy on THEO. Theo and Toka squacked, but it was ADORABLE. I think she was trying to PLAY MOMMY, because her mum carries her like that to go lie down. If she gets any cuter, we're going to DIE.
We sailed alongside the big island all day, but we couldn't get too close because there were a lot of CORAL reefs. We dropped anchor before it was too dark to sail safely, so there was time to go DIVING and look at all the fishes. They had really bright colors, and some of them had FANCY fins, so they were really BEAUTIFUL. Cattail came diving with me, because he has a built-in SNORKEL. Chibi Moosa and Boogie came diving too, because mooses are good divers, but I made sure Boogie knew she wouldn't get to come on VULTURE QUEEN JILL any more if she stole Cattail's trunk.
When I looked, I haven't written lots about Chibi Moosa, and maybe that's not fair because he's a really GOOD moose-friend to Cattail and me and everybody, but he isn't WILD like Boogie. He spends a lot of time on the mangrove watching the SPIDIES because they're kids. We all love you, Chibi Moosa! You're the best!
We made it around the island to where the smoke was coming from, and found another nice beach to anchor at. When we went ashore, some HUGE SNAILS came out of the forest and wiggled their eyestalks at us. They were as big as CARS, and riding on the biggest one was UBIQUITOUS BOB-AUNCLE. We were so surprised we almost fell over!
We all yelled to Bob-auncle, but he said the snail who was carrying him was Snaily-Bob-mayor and that was who we had to talk to! We were all really sorry to Snaily-Bob-mayor for thinking they were a mighty STEED, but they weren't mad. They only wanted to talk to Hebichi and Toka and the sea dogs, though, because they think somebody who's only a boy or only a girl isn't very smart. I don't know why they talk to Bob-auncle, because he's a BOY. I asked if it was a special BOB thing, but neither of them would tell me. It makes me really CROSS when people change the subject instead of ANSWERING me!
The snailies aren't very ADVANCED but they have a nice village with PAVILIIONS to keep the rain off and nice smooth dirt for sliding on and boxes to keep their stuff in. They can do a lot with their RADULAS. Radulas are like tongues with teeth on them. The underhiders do everything with their tongues too, and the snailies don't think they're girls OR boys even though they do, so they were able to talk to them.
There are lots of different kinds of snailies. Some are flat SPIRALS, and those ones eat plants, but some are CONICAL HELICES, and those are CARNIVOROUS. They mostly eat some big birds that they keep in the forest around their village, but I don't like how they hunt. 1 snaily sits really quiet like a rock and waits for a bird to come near. The birds aren't very smart, so eventually 1 does, and then the snaily STINGS it so it's PARALYZED. Then all the other snailies crawl over until the bird is SURROUNDED, and when they're ready they tear it to pieces and gobble it up. It made me feel really bad to think about being paralyzed and having to wait for MONSTERS to come and eat me. I asked the snailies why the 1st one couldn't kill the bird so it didn't suffer, but they said if they eat something that's already dead, it makes them REALLY sick. Shoe-auncle is going to talk to them about ways to get around that.
Another night, instead of having an expedition dream, I dreamed that I got paralyzed by a monster that was hiding behind my tree, and then it called all the other monsters to come eat me and I couldn't move. It was HORRIBLE. Jean drove in with a car and SAVED me, but no one saves the birds. I hope Shoe-auncle has some good ideas.
When I was awake, I told Jeanne she's MY HERO and she looked really proud. She's good at saving people with cars because she practices in DRIVING GAMES. She can even beat Rei!
All the snailies were really nice to us, even though we're boys or girls or Rei. They were nice to Podge and the other gullies and Maz too, because the snailies are PEOPLE, and know who to eat and who to be friends with. They showed us how they can use their radulas to carve wooden statues and fancy sticks for scratching inside their shells and all kinds of cool things! They know how to make stone knives and tools, too, and build stone ovens for roasting veggies they get from the forest. They're pretty happy with their village!
We taught them how to make ROPE, so they gave us a bunch of carvings, because that's what they use for MONEY. I kept 1 carving of a food bird because it's really pretty and the carver polished it with oil from nuts to make it shiny, but the others I gave to Nico-captain to trade for SUPPLIES. We got some fresh meat, even though it makes me feel weird, and some SMOKED meat because the snailies know how to build SMOKEHOUSES. They're really smart!
We finished visiting with the snailies. Bob-auncle wasn't there the second day, but we were all friends by that time, and Shoe-auncle gave the cone snailies some ideas for how to make MARINADE for the bird meat so it would be safe for them to eat. I hope it works and they can treat their food birds BETTER. Shoe-auncle is really smart!
We sailed all the way around Snaily Island to make a MAP of the coast. It took more than 2 days, and Dmitri's and Clover's paws got REALLY tired from drawing so much. We didn't find anybody else on the island, or even any more snailies, but we didn't explore the INTERIOR. Rose-auncle thinks there might be DINOS on the big mesa in the middle, because it looks like a LOST WORLD, but that's not the expedition we're on. I want to come back later and explore more, though!
I think there was a beach closer on the OTHER side of where we first came to the island, so maybe Nelson-captain's instincts aren't as great as the weasels think, but I didn't say anything. Even if he really did flip a coin, that was better than not doing anything. Leaders have to be DECISIVE.
Boogie said she REALLY wanted to steal a snaily's SHELL, but that seemed too mean. It would be like stealing somebody's BONES. I'm glad she didn't!
Our SHIPS are sailing onward in search of the Checkerboard Cat Continent, but our SPACE TRAIN is in orbit around MARS. My whole FAMILY visited the train, and it was REALLY COOL. Simoun and Sahara SHRIEKED and SHRIEKED, because it's MARS and they're WILD about Mars. They told us all about what we were looking at and what's there on Awake Mars and how it's DIFFERENT and asked all the aliens if they've been to Mars before and what it's like and SHRIEKED more when they wouldn't say. It was really nice and kind of FUNNY to watch them. I felt a LITTLE BIT bad for them when people wouldn't answer their questions, but nobody answers my questions either!
We spent a long time looking down at Mars. Dream Mars doesn't have any oceans, but maybe that's because Awake Mars doesn't either. It will once people are done EXPLORING it and start TERRAFORMING it more. That might not be for 100 years, though. Dream Mars does have some lakes and rivers, and big greenish spots that might be where oceans USED to be. I think it might be like how people wrote about Mars before any robots went to take pictures of it. I asked the Space Train people, but they wouldn't tell me EITHER. I shrieked a little, but I'm going to find out SOON.
Nobody is going down to Mars YET, because Heads-captain has to BARGAIN with the creatures on Deimos to get PERMISSION. I wanted to see what the Deimos creatures are like, but even Isaac Mewton doesn't get to visit them. Only the captain does, because they're MYSTERIOUS. I wonder if they're related to the bugs that guard OUR Dreamlands. It's another question that grownups don't answer!
The Space Train people are busy taking apart the asteroid they caught and SMELTING it. That means heating it up to get the METAL out, but they get all the VOLATILES too. That means water and oxygen and nitrogen and oil and all the stuff that's easy to BOIL. They need it for LIFE SUPPORT on the train. The metal is for fixing the train, but for trading to Deimosians and Martians too.
Flying around in the no-gravity cars of the Space Train is really fun, but Isaac is spending lots of time in the cars that spin for gravity so he can be ready for WALKING, so we played with him there. Spinning gravity makes every ball an Oddball when you throw it! It's really funny to watch Tiny Squeak try to walk in different directions to chase something that's MOVING. Turning is still really hard, but she can fall over and roll to a different direction and stand up again. It makes Isaac laugh until HE falls over!
We sent the Bear-grams a letter about how we made it to DREAM Mars, and they sent a letter back saying they go to sleep every night to try to dream about us. I wish we had been able to give them Magic Dreaming lessons before they left! We gave them a lot of TIPS, but it's not the same as having somebody who already knows sleep next to you. You can do it, Bear-grams! You have POWERFUL brains!
All our friends want to visit Dream Mars too. Fairy-mom said we're going to do another Magic Dreaming class this week, so maybe the people in this class will get to go to Mars instead of Dragon-mayor's city. I'm REALLY EXCITED. Nobody is as excited as the twins, though!
Number-dad started his manga class. It's for people who already know how to draw manga pretty good, so I can't be in the class, but Dmitri and Simoun and Max and Annabelle and I can AUDIT it. That's where you're not really taking the class and won't get any certificates but you can sit in the back and LISTEN. Number-dad is a really GOOD teacher!
We did lots of regular stuff in the Awake World this week too. I didn't get in the top 3 for any more bike races, but I didn't wipe out or DIE. I'm getting better at using the Get Over There Faster Song on my SKATEBOARD, so I can go up the 1/4pipe and fly WAY UP, and then I sing the Don't Die Song when I come back down so I land RIGHT. I can do 180 like that, and sometimes I can do 360, but sometimes I wipe out and then I'm glad for my PADS. I really want to get grown up enough to become an ultra-modern kitten so I don't need pads!
Since we aren't going to Cryptotherium Valley for learning Dancing Spider Glyphs, all of us who were learning wrote a LETTER to Cally-teacher telling her what we did in the Awake World this week and what we learned in school. Sometimes it's hard to write about regular stuff with dancing spiders, because the glyphs are better for writing about STARS and MONSTERS and SPOOKY stuff. To write SKATEBOARD, you have to write GLIDING and WHEELS and PLATTER, and like that. Max wanted to draw a picture of a spider dancing on a bike for BIKE, instead of DEAD TREE and WHEELS and PERCH, but we didn't think that was a real glyph. We should learn all the real glyphs before we start inventing NEW ones!
A bunch of kids had a big TUSSLE on the web at the spider park and Hebichi and Morning and I got to the top and were really PROUD, but when we said nobody could pull us down, a masquillion kids from Max and Annabelle's level in school climbed up the back side of the net and pushed us so we rolled all the way down. We had HUBRIS so we got DEFEATED. Later more kids came and there was more tussling and lots of people fell off the net, but they were ultra-modern kids and CATS so nobody got hurt. It was really fun and everybody got a chance to WIN.
Everybody in the farm group thinks an orchard with trees that have all different kinds of fruits and nuts on them will be good, so now that we have a CONSENSUS, we ordered SAPLINGS and when they get here next week, we'll have a PLANTING PARTY.
It was a good week. We went swimming a masquillion times and played swimmy-ball, that's like water basketball, and lots of WEIRD people did FLIRTS. Morning isn't a teenager yet, but she's practing posing really PRETTY with her fancy arms and legs in a swimsuit, and lots of people looked. Even Hebichi looked, so now I'm MORE worried about them being a teenager. It makes me feel weird, because I don't want to stop them from GROWING UP. Being a songkitten is hard and full of COMPLICATED feelings, because everybody else grows up DIFFERENT.
We went to the Starfall zoo and looked at the new animals that came from AUSTRALIA, like emus and wombats and quokkas and goannas. Australia is WARM, so the new animals liked being out in the sun and everybody could ADMIRE them. They're really cool, but I think PLATYPUSES are the coolest Australia animal. We don't have any here, but I want to get some for MY zoo.
Simoun and Humboldt and I built a really great Lego CASTLE that was like the Vampire Witch's in MEGALOMACHY but not the same, and we made Lego people that were LIKE the MEGALOMACHY people and they had exciting adventures. Sometimes we moved pieces of the castle around so they got LOST and found secret rooms or saw people doing secret stuff. Maybe it was like playing a FANFIC.
We finished showing Rose-auncle all the MEGALOMACHY, so now she's caught up to where we are and can help us SPECULATE about what the Minotaur Princess's SCHEME is. She wrote some fanfic too, but she said it's no good for kids because has snogging AND scary stuff. Maybe I'll read it when I'm 30 years old. I hope there's still MEGALOMACHY then and people haven't FORGOTTEN it.
There's been lots of clouds and wind at night, so it's good for sleeping outside. Everybody wanted to have their friends come over, but our porch wasn't BIG ENOUGH so I took my friends and went to sleep on the Gram Porch with Flippy-Flop and Flimmy-Flam and Beethoven. The grams and Lilja and Tiny Squeak and a bunch of the pocket foxies came to sleep with us, but the grownups went to the other end of the porch so we could talk about KID stuff. Mostly we talked about how cute Tiny Squeak was when she walked back and forth! In the middle of the night, she walked over to snuggle inside Hebichi's shirt, but then in the morning she YELLED because there wasn't any milk in there. Hebichi isn't a MUM yet, Tiny Squeak!
HUMMINGBIRD CASTLE chapter 3 made everybody SHRIEK because the kids saw the WEIRD HAND in the corner of the panel, but then it was just a weird LEAF. We went back and looked and before it was REALLY a hand, so something SPOOKY is going on. I don't think Lam-artist would write a comic where kids got EATEN by monsters, but maybe they'll get taken to a fairy kingdom and have scary ADVENTURES.
We sailed through a lot more cliffy islands, and found a CIRCLE of islands around sunken RUINS. It was really pretty with white sand and red tiles from the ruins and green seaweed, and it wasn't very deep, so we did a lot of DIVING. We found some mysterious MOSAICS and the explorers drew pictures of those, but there wasn't very much else. I think the people who lived there got to move out instead of being ENGULFED by the sea. Maybe we'll find them on another island.
When the tide changed, some hammerhead sharks came to hang out in the circle. Sharks aren't mean, but that doesn't mean they're SAFE, so we got back onto the ships. Podge and the other gullies yelled at the sharks for eating up all the little fish and making it dangerous for them to hunt, but we gave them our leftovers and they got really round and slept on the spars. You can hunt another time, gullies!
When I was feeding the biggest gullie, I said, "I think you're a HORACE" and Glizando nodded, so Horace got a name bracelet like Podge's. Podge is still in charge, though! I was really proud to help Horace find his name! He brought me 1/2 a SQUID he hunted, which was really nice even though it smelled WEIRD. I shared it with him and he looked really happy, and I didn't get sick, so we're SQUID-EATING friends now. I think 1 squid was enough for a long time, though.
The twins were CROSS about dreaming about islands instead of MARS and YELLED at people, so Nelson made them do a lot of CLEANING. Then they were still cross, but they were QUIET about it. I gave them a lot of hugs when I visited on DAPPER CAPYBARA, but I don't know if it helped because they weren't MARTIAN hugs.
We had the tree planting party and the Magic Dreaming class this week. Planting the new trees was a LOT of work because we used shovels instead of robots, but it was really FUN too. We dug big holes and put the trees in them and let their roots spread out, and then we filled the holes with really good SOIL all around the roots and put in the watering pipes. We planted 103 trees! They look silly now because they're just SAPLINGS and we had to put them 7m apart, but when they're GROWN UP in a few years, they'll look really nice and grow lots of yummy food. The fruit trees grow oranges and peaches and apples and pears and cherries and nectarines and lemons and avocados, and the nut trees grow walnuts and filberts, that's another name for hazelnuts, and chestnuts and pecans and brazil nuts and macadamia nuts and hickory nuts and cashews. There are trees that grow more different kinds, but they're harder to take care of. 8 different fruits and 8 different nuts is enough!
The Magic Dreaming class was really great too. We got 33 people to camp out in the party room in the Gram House, and only 1 of them was there because she has a crush on Fairy-mom. Zora thinks lots of people should have crushes on Fairy-mom because she's SPLENDID, and she's right, but that's not why people came to the class. They came to hear my GUIDED THOUGHT instructions!
Maybe that isn't why they came either, but I think I did a really good job of helping people find their way down to the GATES OF SLEEP. Dmitri and Annabelle helped by being really FLUFFY. Good work, guys!
Instead of climbing up a mountain with bugs, we all FLEW across SPACE until we plopped into the Space Train. Some people ended up in the METAL room, but they were really tough and didn't get squished. Maybe Amara's special talent is getting lost when she goes to the Dreamlands and getting in TROUBLE. The grownups found everybody and we got in a little spaceship with Isaac Mewton and a bunch of aliens and flew over to Deimos and hooked onto the BEANSTALK that goes down to Mars and went ZOOM. It was REALLY exciting! Everybody made friends with Isaac and all the aliens and got TENTACLE hugs and PROBOSCIS bumps and talked about how great it was going to be on Mars and had a little dance party. It takes a long time to get all the way down from Deimos, so the dream ended before we got there, but now everybody wants ANOTHER dreaming party to make sure they get back to Mars. People really like magic dreaming! Simoun and Sahara really like MARS!
The other exiting thing that happened this week was that the twins and their friend Frillist and MY friends Hebichi and Spin and Blond Dmitry and ME went on a bike ride ALL THE WAY around the lake. Humboldt and Dmitri have already done that because they're EXPLORERS, but we haven't because it's a LONG way! It took a whole afternoon because even if you go close to the lake it's more than 30km. We took some DETOURS so it was almost 40km and we didn't get back home in time for dinner. We saw a lot of really nice people at houses and parks and stopped at Goodberry Ice Cream to get their famous sundaes and met some really FRIENDLY doggies and other pets and went over some bridges and through a tunnel and saw the AIRPORT and rode through sprinklers because it was SO HOT. When we got to the wind towers, we thought about taking the TRAIN the rest of the way, but then a cool BREEZE came up so we decided we could make it, and we DID. It was lots of fun, but our legs were really FLOPPY after that. Max and Annabelle pouted that they didn't get to go with us, but when they saw how we could hardly WALK when we got home, they said they'll go a different time. That's a smart idea, younger kids!
I'm trying not to be JEALOUS of the ultra-modern kids for having TOUGH legs, but I really want to be old enough now!
Last night we did a Magic Dreaming Party with all the people in the class and some more people who wanted to dream about MARS. The party room at the Gram House got really CROWDED, but that's OK because snuggles help with dream adventures. Number-dad and Dmitri and I helped guide everybody's thoughts and then we were all FALLING down the beanstalk until we plopped into the spaceship. I know it was later than when we left because we were ALMOST to the ground, but the aliens and Isaac and everybody didn't act like we were gone. It was MYSTERIOUS.
The spaceship had lots of windows so we could see the mountains and some little lakes and swamps in the middle of the big flat green, and Isaac brought a TELESCOPE so we could see even better. I think a lot of the mountains were really RUINS, like on Hollow Mountain Island. That made me think about how different parts of the Dreamlands can be SIMILAR, and then I worried that the green area might be DEATH NOODLE VALLEY. I thought if I saw any Mars animals swallowing each other, I would SHRIEK, but even though Isaac let me use the telescope a lot because we're FRIENDS, I didn't. I saw something really BIG that was moving around, but I think it was more like a giant SLIME MOLD than an animal. Maybe it's Death PUDDING Valley.
We couldn't see right under the spaceship, so all the people who haven't been to Dream Mars before were really SURPRISED when we went into a big HOLE. It wasn't very deep compared to how high Deimos is, but it was really DARK until we got to the STATION.
The end of the beanstalk is in a HUGE cave that's so big all of Starfall would fit in it! The roof was covered in lights like STARS, so people with good EYES could see, and there were streetlights so everybody was okay in the PORT. There were a lot of buildings made of stone that looked like they grew like coral, and a masquillion different MARTIANS. They were all skinny because there isn't much GRAVITY so they don't need to be big and strong, but some were little and some were REALLY tall and some were green and some were blue and some were CLEAR and lots of them had extra ARMS or LEGS. They didn't have extra heads like Heads-captain, though, and only a few of them even had extra EYES. They had most of their bones on the INSIDE, too. The Martians were glad to see the aliens from Space Train, and yelled and danced with them and threw BREAD at them. They threw bread at US too, and the train aliens said it was polite to eat it, so we DID. It was really SPICY so Annabelle and Isaac squacked, but it was nice bread, and the Martians said now we were their GUESTS so they wouldn't eat us. I don't know if they could eat ultra-modern people who are really TOUGH, but maybe they could eat CATS so I'm glad they didn't try!
The Martians always like it when a spaceship comes down the beanstalk, so they invited everybody to the palace for a PARTY. Lots of the people from Starfall were worried because they were afraid the party food might be PEOPLE or living animals or someething, or maybe there would be something else horrible because the Martians have a palace with a QUEEN, but the train aliens said it was OK. The Martians like to SOUND scary, but they don't really do lots of murders. They're nicer than the sluggos from Barbados Asteroid!
I didn't write about the aliens from the space train. About 15 or 20 of them came down on this trip, but Isaac said there are 2000 or 2500 on the train! More will come down later, but maybe not the ones like Heads-captain who don't like GRAVITY. They said Heads-captain usually spends lots of time with the Mysterious Deimosians. The aliens I knew that came on this trip were Glormulus, who's like a big BUG with a rolled-up face like a butterfly and likes drawing and drinking soda, and Zobzob, who's like an OCTO in an ARMADILLO shell and likes climbing all over and hanging upside-down and making machines, and Spipipillagos, who's like a really LONG green crab and likes hiding in small warm places and reading books and watching shows and telling terrible jokes. I don't know how old they are in MEGASECONDS, but they're about as grown up as Isaac and me, so they had their families too. They're all good friends with Isaac so I know they're nice, and their families are nice too. I don't know the other aliens as well, but I think they're nice too. Annabelle made friends with all of them, because she's an Annabelle.
I don't know about the Martians. They were nice to us, but when we were in the palace, there were some Martians who got to wear fancy clothes and eat food that looked really yummy, and some Martians who had to wear plain clothes and carry the food to give to people and not eat it themselves. It's because they had a QUEEN. I didn't like that, although Simoun said it was better than if they were swallowing each other's HEADS. Number-dad said it wasn't very good, but they're ALIENS and it's their city, so we should leave it alone like we do with Podge and their MINIONS. I didn't like that because they're PEOPLE, but nobody was getting hurt so I didn't know if I should mess up the party. Probably they would just throw me out and keep doing it. Number-dad said I was really MATURE about it, but he hugged me a lot and said it was really good of me to not think it was OK to have queens and minions. We just have to be patient and see what things are really like. He sang the Let's Not Do Anything Reckless Song really quiet to me and then I felt better.
The Martians' palace was really pretty! It was made of white MARBLE and it swooped everywhere with STAIRS. Even the dance floor was made of wide stairs, so people went up and down when they danced in circles. The parts where people lived, like the BATHROOM, had stuff like lavender GRASS on the floors and the walls to make it cozier. They had pictures, too, but they were really WEIRD. I don't know if they were supposed to be ABSTRACT. Maybe Martians just have weird eyes.
When I didn't worry about the MINIONS, it was a fun party. There was lots of dancing, and all the Martians wanted to hear about Space Train adventures and OCEAN adventures. They know about space, but they don't know about oceans because they don't have any! They thought our stories were really EXCITING and said we were really BRAVE to go on that much water and did some FLIRTS with teenagers and grownups. Flower-gram did LOTS of flirts with the Martian queen Kan-Nomel, because she's really PRETTY. She's red and purple and kind of like Pixie but with more legs and more arms and her dress was shiny white on the outside and soft lavender on the inside like her PALACE and she liked it when Flower-gram FLATTERED her. That made Zora cross, because she thought the Martian queen was pretty but she knows queens are NO GOOD. She isn't good at staying calm and telling stories about how Dragon-mayor made everybody better off by making people share instead of HOARD. Flower-gram was good at that.
There were hardly any kid Martians, so I danced with the other kids who came on the spaceship, and sometimes with SMALL Martians, and we drank a lot of soda and ate a lot of WEIRD snacks. I liked the fried salty bugs that were like CRISPS, but the jelly noodles were too SLIMY for me. Max ate them because they were BLUE, but she made weird faces. It was really funny.
The nicest Martian was Garus, who was only as big as Max but had lots of blue arms and green legs and told WEIRD jokes. She likes kitties and aliens and people from new places, and she asked us LOTS about Starfall. We told her how we live with no priests, no princes, and no prophets, that's something Starfall people said when they were FOUNDING the city, and she didn't think that would work, but maybe she THOUGHT about it. Horarak has a scary name and he's really TALL and PURPLE but he was nice too. I think he's the Queen's brother. Sojatandan and Kantus were friendly to kids too.
The Martians really liked Tiny Squeak, I think because they don't have many kids of their own. They told her she's great and told her MUM she's great and tried to give her juice and treats and watched her walk FUNNY because of the gravity. I was a little bit worried they might try to STEAL her, but VV-gram wasn't worried. Nobody can do a piracy on HER kitten!
Big Sam asked the Martians if they could take us to where his parents' house is in the Awake World, and they said they could, but only after the party. Martians REALLY like parties.
Sahara and Simoun REALLY like Martian parties. I think maybe they BOTHERED the Martians but they were so happy being on Mars that they didn't notice when the people they were talking to got tired and made someone else answer their questions for a while. Maybe I'm wrong, because Martians like talking about THEMSELVES a lot. Maybe they just had to get more to DRINK after telling the twins about Mars.
As soon as I woke up, I ran over to the Cousin House to hug Zora and Big Sam. Humboldt and Dmitri came with me, so there was a LOT of hugging. They weren't really upset about the Martians, but they did WORRY about the minions. Zora thought maybe there was going to have to be a WAR. I don't like that, because wars are always HORRIBLE. Sometimes it's more horrible for people who are being OPPRESSED, though.
I asked Momo-teacher about it, and she told us how only the people who are being oppressed can decide if it's worth fighting a war. Other people can only help them. I think that's right, so I want Momo-teacher to come to Mars and look.
I talked to Sahara and Simoun, but they think everything about Mars is REALLY GREAT and if some Martians are minions, that's because Martians are ALIENS and don't do things the way we do. I don't know if that's OK. Maybe they like Mars TOO MUCH.
Momo-auncle came to sit on Humboldt's head and do a dream adventure with us last night, but we didn't go to Mars so she couldn't check on the Martians. It made the twins SHRIEK.
We had another dream about the sailing expedition, so she got to sail on VULTURE QUEEN JILL and see if we were doing a good exploration. I was worried because all the gullies thought she was really INTERESTING and she's only BITE-SIZED to them, but she's a TEACHER and she can make anybody sit down and LISTEN. Podge and Horace and all the gullies were really POLITE to her and now they're friends. Momo-auncle says she can't understand gullie-yelling, but she told us their names are Clarence, Miffia, Belle, and GULLIE-BOB. I don't why there are so many Bobs! I asked Momo-auncle, but she doesn't know because she isn't a Bob. It's a Secret of the Bob CABAL. That means a secret group with SCHEMES. I don't know what Ubiquitous Bob-auncle, Snaily-Bob, and Gullie-Bob would scheme about, because they're all really DIFFERENT, but maybe I don't understand because I'm not SAMUEL-BOB.
We were sorry to Momo-auncle for not being on Mars, but she knows the Dreamlands are MYSTERIOUS. We talked about how it's REALLY WEIRD that dream adventures happen out of ORDER but Dreamlands people don't notice. It reminded me of a scary manga I read, where the character thought her city was regular and her kitty was a cat and her friends were human, but really she was HALLUCINATING all that and her city was HORRIBLE and full of monsters and her kitty was a really POWERFUL monster. Thinking that maybe everything I see in the Dreamlands isn't real and my friends aren't the people I think they are makes me really ANXIOUS. I think that's what's called EXISTENTIAL DREAD. I don't like it, even though I'm pretty sure the Dreamlands are really here and my friends all love me and nobody is secretly a kitten-eating monster. It's just that time isn't all the way LINEAR, and Dreamlands people are USED to it.
I REALLY don't like existential dread. It made me wake up and hide between Humboldt and Sahara, and when I went back to sleep, VULTURE QUEEN JILL was in a different place like I was gone all afternoon, but NOBODY noticed. Even my siblings didn't notice! It was really WEIRD but it didn't make me feel TOO anxious.
