Magic Dreaming Class was really good. We only had 37 people so we used the party room in the Gram House and it was nice and cozy. Flower-gram got crackers and cheese flowers and sausage and veggies and warm juice for everybody so nobody was too hungry to sleep, and everybody got a mattress to sleep on. Fairy-mom is really good at organizing.
Mimosa and Charles and their mom and dad were there, and that made me really happy. Mimosa's mom's name is Annabelle, so now she's my Annabelle's name friend, but most people call her AB so we didn't get CONFUSED. There were some new people and a few people from classes before that came back to get a REFRESHER and everybody was really nice.
After everybody was done eating and playing with Tiny Squeak and got all snuggled in their beds, I did the Guided Thinking speech to help everybody get their brain right for magic dreaming and Number-dad and VV-gram and everybody sang a lullaby. That made Tiny Squeak CONK OUT, and she led EVERYBODY into the Dreamlands. Good job falling asleep, Mlle. Squeaks!
We got everybody onto an underground train, and I thought we were going to my zoo like we did before, but I was WRONG. When we looked who else was on the train, it was Lurking Lemon Spider and Jaunty Jonquil Spider and Thomas and Julia and Boogie and Chibi Moosa and Dragon 152 and some capybaras. They were going HOME. The Puenguin Palace isn't Dragon 152's home yet, but they miss Earrings Dragon and Spiky Back Dragon and want to say with them for the rest of the winter, so maybe it will be. I think it will be the capybaras' home too, if the cold weather isn't too hard on them.
I said it was Earrings Dragon who picked who got to go to the Thanksgiving party, but it wasn't, because she's at the Northern Shores. It was really Dressup Dragon, that's Dragon 77, who likes wearing jewelry and fancy scarves and stuff and had on fancy earrings when I saw her on TV.
I was worried people would think it was boring to dream about being on a train in a dark tunnel, but they thought it was really great to meet a real dragon and giant spidies and talking moosies and pengies and the Wombat Person conductor with armored trousers and like that. Then we went through the clear underwater tunnel and everybody smushed their faces on the windows to see all the coral and fish and giant squids and everything. We saw a giant MANTIS SHRIMP and everybody got worried that it might break the tunnel, but the conductor said the tunnel is too strong for that. It was a really fancy shrimp with all different colors and wiggly eyestalks and lots of legs and like that, so some people took pictures of it and said its name should be Shrimpy-Bob. I only shrieked a little bit.
When Mimosa was busy watching the ocean, Boogie stole her nose and tried to run away with it but the conductor scolded her and said it was a NO STEALING train and made her give it back. Everybody who knows Boogie was really impressed at how POWERFUL the conductor was!
When we got to the Penguin Palace, everybody there was REALLY glad to see the expedition people get home, and the dragons were glad to see 152 and the capybaras, and everybody was really SURPRISED to see the students, but really nice. Disco Moose and Boogie tried to pretend they weren't really happy to see each other, because she's too grownup and cool for mushy stuff, but really they were.
The students really liked everybody. I was worried they might not like Penguin Max because he's an emperor, but they understand how things are different in the Dreamlands and Penguin Max is really nice and doesn't oppress anybody. They really liked the baby pengies, and all the mooses, and they went down to the cave to make friends with the mermaids and the sealies and turtlies and even Pentameter. Maybe the capybaras used friendship magic, but maybe people who come to our Magic Dreaming Class are really NICE.
I think the pengies and moosies were a little worried to have so many visitors, but then one of the students used the phone to order PIZZA and it was OK again.
The students got worried when Peculiar Purple Spider and the other spidies wrapped up Lurking Lemon Spider and Jaunty Jonquil Spider in webs and carried them away into the Warm Maze, but the pengies and moosies said that's a way spidies show LOVE and they only eat protein drinks anyway, and it was OK. A bunch of capybaras went too, but maybe that was because they like warm places.
I told Penguin James about Human James and he laughed and laughed, but said it's good to have new Jameses. Penguin James is really busy, but I hope someday he'll have a vacation and I can take him and Penguin Max to my zoo and introduce them to Human James and maybe Podge and the gullies.
When we woke up in the morning, all the students said magic dreaming is REALLY GREAT. Mimosa gave Hebichi and me really big hugs and said she wants to grow up to be a mermaid like PENTAMETER. That seems pretty hard, but you can do it, Mimosa!
Lots of kids at school who don't do magic dreaming were really ENVIOUS about meeting dragons and baby pengies and giant mantis shrimp. I hope someday everybody can do magic dreaming!
I dreamed about the Northern Shores again, but this time it was just Cattail and Spin and Sonny and Maz and me. We played in the snow with the moosies and pengies until we got really cold and then we crawled through the tunnel Sonny dug to the door and went in to have leftover pizza and snuggles. Some of the kid mermaids came all the way up in the water elevator to get pizza and they FLIRTED with Spin, but I talked to Penguin Max and Penguin James about the visitors and how it's OK for people to visit, but in wintertime there isn't much spare food. I promised that we would get them more food any time we brought visitors. I'm not a grownup but I knew my grownups will help and when I woke up and asked, I was right. Nobody wants baby pengies to be hungry!
Maybe we'll make another trip to the Northern Shores with SNOWMOBILES full of FOOD.
It's been a pretty good week. There was a lot of wind and now we need to get a new spar for VULTURE QUEEN JILL, but Magic Dreaming Class was a big success and everybody at Northern Shores is OK and Mimosa is our friend now. I did really good at school and Annabelle and I built a HUGE Lego spaceship with robots that crawled around.
It's DECEMBER so pretty soon it's going to be Clover's birthday and then Calico Cat Day and then SOLSTICE and then VACATION. I wonder if the Checkerland people will want to come to Sea Monster Cove and set up a beacon plant. It might not have enough people. I don't even know if they'll really set up one at the Northern Shores.
Sahara and Simoun and I went to the BOTANICAL GARDENS, that's like a zoo for plants, to see the beacon plants. Spider Who Casts Everything With Higher Spell Slots put them there to sleep for the winter. In the spring, they'll wake up and start working, so he wants to get the other two where they belong before then. I said he could put 1 of them at Sea Monster Cove, and the twins said he could put 1 on MARS. He said he'd think about it, but probably that means NO WAY.
The botanical garden was really great even without that, because it had so many different plants and different scents and shades of green and some flowers even though it's December. We found Number-dad there, because he likes flowers, and snuggled with him and Algernon under a big piney tree and talked with them and Flerb about magic flowers. Number-dad doesn't grow any now, but he might later. He couldn't explain why, so it must be a grownup thing. Maybe he just has a funny brain. I love him anyway.
We played The Floor Is Alien Fungus in the living room and it was really fun until we had too many ideas for what the fungus did if it got on you and Sahara talked about how it would EAT YOUR FLESH and then Annabelle didn't like it and started crying. Sahara was really sorry, but we had to stop playing. I didn't like it either, so I snuggled with Annabelle on the top shelf where there wasn't any alien fungus. Sometimes imagining goes ALL WRONG.
I dreamed about alien fungus trying to eat my flesh, but it was only an imaginary dream. I didn't like it, so I ran away to Space Train and went in the DECONTAMINATION shower and then Isaac and I went to the shopping cars so I could buy some space presents for people. I got a map of the whole surface of Dream Mars for the twins, and some alien jewelry for Hebichi's Little Dragon HOARD and lots of crunchy treats for everybody.
Everybody on Space Train is doing OK. They found some different Martians to trade with, closer to the north ice cap. They have to fly down in ships instead of using the Deimos beanstalk, so it's more EXPENSIVE, but they got lots of interesting artifacts from deep inside Mars, and big tanks of volatiles, and some Martians came to visit Space Train. I didn't get to see them because they were really busy with Heads-captain and everybody, but Isaac said they're really spiky and have long hard legs like mantis bugs. That sounds scary, but they aren't too mean. I like visiting Binzi's village, but I want to visit these Martians too!
When I told Sahara and Simoun about the other Martians, they shrieked and now they're putting pictures of Space Train and Isaac all around a corner of the bedroom so they can have a dream adventure there.
VV-gram and Flower-gram and Squeaky-auncle came over and helped me cook some stirfry with beef and onions and bean sauce and pumpkin and lots of veggies for everybody. We had to keep cooking and then moving it onto the table, because we only have 2 woks, but everybody was really happy with it. Tiny Squeak didn't help us cook, but she was MORAL SUPPORT.
After dinner, we watched a show called GHOSTDOM about a wizard from ancient China who had go to into the dimension of the DEAD to trade the person who was supposed to be dead for the wrong one who got killed. It was really spooky and full of monsters and writing spells on people and people SACRIFICING themselves for honor and like that. I liked how the wizard was really MYSTERIOUS but then we learned how she swore ETERNAL VENGEANCE on the King of the Dead because her kid died and it was really TRAGIC. Even if you're a spirit as big as all the dead people in the world, you better not mess with a wizard's KIDS.
The twins' pictures made us ALL dream about Space Train, but we couldn't visit Mars because all the landers were already down on the surface. There was a lot of shrieking, but after we had space ice cream and everybody calmed down, we played ball with Zobzob and Spipipillagos and Glormulus and some other kids. The coriolis made the ball go weird when it went up, so it was really HARD for people from a planet!
Jonny wants to get a kitty, but her parents aren't sure that she's responsible enough or that their apartment is big enough, so she's BUMMED OUT. We sat in the spider park complaining about how grownups are really unfair until Toka came to get Hebichi for dinner. Then Jonny said, "KITTY!" and did a PIRACY on Toka. Toka said, "OK I'm your kitty now but we have to go home to get the OTHER kitties" so Jonny carried them to their house. Hebichi didn't know if they should rescue their little sibling or let them be Jonny's kitty! Later I heard that Toka's and Jonny's parents both said NO WAY. Kids can't just go to a different family! I hope Jonny can get some kitties, because I think she's really responsible.
We dreamed about Mars again, but we were back at the sinkhole town. The Bear-grams were there, so we got lots of hugs, and they told us about rovering around on the surface and seeing lots of old ruins and strange creatures and huge rock paintings. Some Martians said they heard the fighting at the beanstalk city was almost done. I hope that's right and nobody else gets hurt.
When we asked our parents about it, they said MAYBE the fighting is settling down but it isn't safe for anybody to go there yet. I had complicated feelings because that means it isn't safe for them either, but they're being really brave and helping people.
In magic singing class, we talked about how to sing the Let's All Be Friends Song different to make it more powerful for different people. It's hard to know what works best for somebody if you aren't already friends for them, though. Maybe we need to get some capybaras as GUEST INSTRUCTORS for Friendship Magic.
I thought Clover changed to grey and white so she could hunt animals to eat, but I was WRONG.
I can tell when an invisible auncle is around by the mysterious feeling in my WHISKERS, but that doesn't work when she's hiding by sitting under a bush and being winter-colored, so I got POUNCED. When I first met Clover-auncle, she pounced me too ferocious and my pee came out and I cried, but now I'm lots more mature and I go to fighting class 3 time every week. When she squished me into the snow, I YELLED, and my KICKS came out! I kicked her so hard it made deep scratches in her leg. Cattail got worried because he thought we were really fighting, but we weren't. Clover said I did really good DEFENSE and we curled up on a blanket and talked about fighting while I washed her leg until it stopped bleeding. Cattail kept being worried, though, so we got our snowmobiles and drove to Dragon Clinic. We didn't need them because the snowplow trucks cleared the roads, but we rode on the piles of snow they made on the sides. Shoe-auncle wasn't busy so he did old-time doctor stuff to Clover's leg and even gave her 2 stitches. Then he scolded her for tussling TOO ROUGH and Cattail nodded and nodded, so she was a little bit sorry.
I though it might be snowy when I woke up, but it's not YET.
I felt bad for upsetting Cattail, so I left him in my closet with some ELDRITCH ELEPHANT playing. I know he's only plush in the Awake World, but I think he knows a LITTLE BIT of what happens.
TINY SQUEAK GOT A WORD!
She has lots of songs, like the Warm Bottle Song when she wants milk, and the Shaboop Show Theme Song when she wants to watch a show, and the Good Morning Sunshine Song when she doesn't want to sleep, and like that, and maybe for a SONGKITTEN those are like words, but now she has a really good WORD. She uses it for all kinds of things she wants, because "um!" is like "Mum" and like "Yum". GOOD JOB TINY SQUEAK!
I'm trying to not write as much so I don't stay up so late, so I won't write about all the things Tiny Squeak wants that she says "um!" for. She's really adorable!
When I got home after choir and wanted to give Cattail a hug, Clover was ALREADY hugging him. I left my closet open a little bit so she snuck in and was sorry to him even though he's plush. She's a good auncle.
Last night's dream adventure was snowy winter camping and Dancing Spider Glyphs. We had to do a lot of REVIEW because we didn't have Glyph Class all summer and fall, but we did a lot of laughing and toasting marshmallows and looking at STARS too. The porcypines sat in a circle around the stones and watched us, and ate the marshmallows we threw to them. I wonder if they'll learn how to make fires and toast their OWN marshmallows.
Cattail was really happy again, because lots of his friends were there and none of them were fighting. Even the twins only clobbered people a little bit with their paws.
Cattail and Clover were friends again when I got to the Dreamlands. I'm glad. Maybe they listened to too much ELDRITCH ELEPHANTS, though, because they kept singing it really quiet to each other.
The giant hedgiehog is back in the petting zoo, because they like having a warm place to live in the winter and Human James to bring them Slugbox every day and friends to snuggle on their giant tummy. Welcome back, Giant Hedgie!
I don't know if Mimosa learned magic dreaming, but her little brother Charles and her mome AB-auncle did, because they were at the petting zoo too. They were a litle bit worried when I took them to snuggle the giant hedgiehog because there was an ALLIGATOR there, but I said it was OK because Elevator Alligator is really nice and Charles SHRIEKED. The Elevator Alligator book was his FAVORITE when he was younger and his mom had to read it to him a masquillion times, so he was REALLY excited to meet Lev. It was really cute.
Lev wanted to stay and talk to Charles for a long time because he likes having FANS, but the meerbot who helps with his lighting keeps track of his SCHEDULE too and it has a sharp finger for POKING that even a scaly alligator can't ignore. Poor Lev had to get all bundled up warm and go back to the train station because he had a meeting to talk about photoshoots, but he promised to talk to Charles again. It was a good dream.
It was a good week too, because Tiny Squeak got a WORD. I saw a good show and visited the botanical gardens and did a good fight against a HUGE WINTER MONSTER. Tomorrow it's going to snow in the Awake World.
I dreamed about people with cranes putting up the big tree in front of City Tall. Simoun wanted to help, but they wouldn't let her because they were grownups. She sulked a lot, but when the tree was all put together and plugged in, it lit up really BEAUTIFUL and everybody cheered. Then Elephant Cat went and hid under the lowest branches with some old sails to stay warm, like he did last year, and a bunch of cats and dogs and capybaras and all kinds of animals sat on him. This year he had a red pompom hat and a fake beard, so he could be Santa Claus for kids and listen to what they wanted. I helped by bringing cookies and juice for the kids, so I got to hear all the things they asked for. Lots of them asked for KITTYSNUGGLES, and lots more asked to have a capybara come live with them. Those were really easy wishes!
It snowed really THICK today. When I went to school it was just cloudy and quiet, but when I came home it there was so much snow I couldn't see even 1 block! There wasn't any wind and it was only a little bit below 0 so it wasn't a blizzard, but it snowed and snowed and snowed while I was at Choir and Orchestra so when I went home it was up to my KNEES. There was a big snowball fight in the yard and Dmitri and I seized the treehouse and held it until Cara and Rei climbed up and smushed snow in our faces and we had to put snow down their shirts so they shrieked even though they're ultra-modern people. It was really fun but eventually my coat filled up with snow that people smushed in there and I had to run inside to take it off and get warm juice. It was nice to play in the snow and nice to go inside and nice to get hugs.
We did more snowmobiling in Cryptotherium Valley and it was really fun but then it WASN'T. We heard a baby cryptie crying, and smelled animals that were sick and dead so we vroomed over as fast as we could to where she was hiding inside the Wombat Tunnel. We couldn't see here, but we could hear her and smell her and we could see a dead porcypine HOVERING because it was STUCK in her. It was really bad!
The kid cryptie was really scared because she thought a bunch of cats was there to EAT her but she couldn't run away because she was hurt, and it made me feel really bad for her. She was worn out, though, so when we sang the Let's All Be Friends Song and the Rest And Everything Will Be Better Song, she fell right asleep even though everything was so bad.
Humboldt and Cally-auncle snorfled the cryptie and said the porcypine was stuck in her foot, so probably she stepped on it by accident and it got killed because even a baby cryptie is HUGE but it got stuck in her foot. It was really bad for everybody.
Her foot was INFECTED, that's when germs get in a wound and make it sick, so Cally-auncle said we had to get her a vet right away. Her and Dmitri vroomed back to my zoo to get Tater or a large-animal vet and the rest of us kept singing, and brought water for her, and tried to cut the spines off so they would be easier to take out. That was hard because they're MAGIC spines, but Humboldt had really good snippers and he's really strong. It made the cryptie cry more, but she didn't wake up. Then Tater and Alroun-doctor and Cold-mouth Dragon got there with a big ornithopter and lots of medical equipment and they sent all of us kids off with an important mission so we wouldn't see SURGERY.
We rubbed some rags all over the cryptie to get her scent, and then we ran to the other end of the Wombat Tunnel to look for her MOMMY. We couldn't take the snowmobiles because there wasn't any snow inside, so we had to go by EXPLORER BOOTS again. We didn't have explorer PACKS and we'd been there before, so we went pretty fast and maybe it only took 1 hour to get to the bottom.
We were TIRED, but we all split up and took the rags every which way to find a cryptotherium that would follow the baby's scent. Rei and Cara and I went all over the fern valley following tracks, but it was Humboldt and Maa-uu and Explorobot who came running and yelling with a HUGE CRASHING behind them. We had to run so we didn't get stepped on like the poor porcypine! Rei had the really good idea of giving all the rags to Explorobot because it could drive really fast in the smooth tunnel and then we could go along behind and not have to worry about getting crushed.
When we got back to the baby, we could see her because there wasn't any dead porcypine stuck to her but there were BANDAGES. All the vets and Explorobot and everybody were hiding outside the tunnel so they wouldn't get crushed while the cryptotheriMUM helped her baby get up and lean on her to walk back down to the fern valley. We snuck past but it was really SCARY because if the cryptotherimum wanted to be mad it would be really hard for us to get away. She only wanted to help her baby lean on her and go down to the fern valley, though.
After surgery, you're supposed to stay at the hospital and get taken care of so you don't get infected again and like that, and the baby cryptie wasn't doing that, she was going out in the wild and would probably get her foot all dirty again. We worried about her a LOT, but Alroun-doctor said we did the most we could for her. Even Dragon Clinic isn't big enough for her, and nowhere is big enough for her mom, and we couldn't get them there anyway. All the spines and dirt and infection are out of the baby cryptie's foot and the wounds are sutured and dressed and she's full of anti-germ medicine and some verses of the Get Better Soon Song. Good luck, baby cryptie! I'm glad we could help you get back to your mommy!
When we woke up, Max and Annabelle were still really worried so they went to cuddle our parents. I wanted to, but I need to practice being MATURE so I snuggled with my big siblings instead. Being a baby wild animal is really hard, even for big smart animals like elephants and cryptotheria, but without us, the baby cryptie would have DIED, and now she has a good chance. Everybody at school said that even if she doesn't know it, we're HER HEROES. That made me feel better, but I'm still worried. I worry about wild animals a lot. I'm worried about the friends of that porcypine who got stepped on. I hope they don't swear revenge on all cryptotheria. Don't do anything rash, guys!
While we were asleep, there was a lot more snow so it was almost up to my TUMMY when I went to school. It's a lot of snow for early December! Everybody said it probably won't stick, so all the kids from the whole neighborhood had a HUGE snow fight in the park. We built FORTS and some kids took over the treehouse and everybody changed sides a lot but Hebichi and I were always TOGETHER and we got to BURY Cara and Rei in snow to get them back for yesterday and it was really fun even when Morning threw me off the treehouse into a big pile of snow and it wasn't soft enough so my oofs came out. We all turned into SNOW MONSTERS and had to take warm baths to turn back when we got home. Even Tiny Squeak got covered in snow.
Clover is 27 years old. That's as grownup as an ultra-modern person who's 18, like Zora, so Rose-auncle said MAYBE she's really an adult now. Everybody else said HAPPY BIRTHDAY CLOVER!
We had a family part for her at dinner and gave her a masquillion hugs and I gave her a shiny silk fascinator that's grey to match her winter colors. Her mom and auncles and grams gave her SOLDIER ROBOTS because if she's going to keep living in Starfall, she should go to soldier training like Zora. The robots are the kind like big spiders, like Nessie-auncle and Big Sam used for hunting monsters, and I think maybe the pocket foxies made them special for her. I didn't know why they didn't make any for Zora, but they said it was because they weren't ready in time and the first part of Zora's training is without robots anyway. They'll send them in the spring when it's time for her to learn to fight with them.
It's really weird that 27 is just starting to be grownup for a songcat but really grownup for everybody else. Lots of people are even married by the time they're 27. It's going to be weird like that for all of us songkittens. I know nobody will be mean to be because of it, but today I'm a lot more ANXIOUS about it than I used to be. I gave Clover-auncle a masquillion hugs during dinner.
After dinner, Clover-auncle got dressed up all pretty and went out with Rafe and Oona to dance at a NIGHTCLUB. I think they're going to drink grownup juice and do flirts with everybody.
Last night I wanted to dream about Fern Valley, so I could sniff if the baby cryptie is OK, but instead I dreamed about the fake tree in front of City Tall and how a masquillion cats climbed up inside it to sit on the metal branches and watch everybody, and then a bunch of TREE OCTOS and SPIDIES from Checkerland climbed up too. A lot of the cats didn't like that, because they don't know abut octos and spidies, but then 3 Orange Socks was there and he was really POLITE to all the new climbers. That made all the cats feel better so they could start making FRIENDS.
VV-gram was there, but she had to stay on the ground with Tiny Squeak, who isn't allowed to climb very high even though she kept reaching for higher branches and saying "Um! Um!". Sometimes Socks-gram sat on a high branch, because he's a really IMPORTANT cat, but lots of the time he sat on the bottom branch so he could put his paw down to tussle with his KITTEN. He's really busy in the Dreamlands a lot, but he loves Tiny Squeak A LOT.
Finally we all dreamed about Fern Valley, but we couldn't find the cryptotheria. We did find where they slept, though, and we could smell the baby cryptie who was hurt. She still smelled hurt, but not sick, so I think Alroun-doctor did a good job with the infection. We didn't smell any blood, either. Take care of yourself, baby cryptie, so you can grow up big and strong!
I'm not going to worry about her any more because she's back with her HERD and they'll all take care of her.
In Magic Singing Class, Sahara and Simoun and I had to tell everybody about the singing we did for the baby cryptie, and then the whole class talked about it. I was really ANXIOUS because I thought they were going tell us all the things we should have done better and I would feel bad for not doing my best to help the baby cryptie, but they didn't. Everybody said we did just right! We talked about how to do even better next time, with combining songs and singing the best way for huge animals to hear and like that, and we got lots of hugs because everybody thinks it was really nice to help a baby animal who was in trouble.
Stev said if we want to look for cryptotheria maybe we should get some batties to go with us, so they can find them with SONAR, and then we talked about the SONAR SONG. I really want to learn it, but it's really hard. Bats can only do it because they have special brains. Maybe we can do it in a more advanced class.
We had another Dancing Spider Glyphs Class in the snow. The porcypines came and sat right outside the stone circle, so we told them about the porcypine who got stepped on by the baby cryptie in case they didn't know. They didn't say anything, but they looked at us really SERIOUS so maybe they understood. We studied a lot of glyphs about death and being sorry and GRIEVING. It made us feel bad, but that's because we worried about the baby cryptie more than the dead porcypine. After the class, Cally-auncle took the porcypines to where they buried her and then we all snuck away so we wouldn't bother them.
When I woke up, I still felt melancholy. I didn't know the porcypine who died and I didn't see her get killed, so I'm not really upset like when the leopard kittens got eaten by the snake, but I still don't like it. People shouldn't die just because of ACCIDENTS. I don't know how to fix that, though. Even UNIVERSAL FRIENDSHIP doesn't stop accidents.
The snow is mostly gone, so it's good that we played with it a whole bunch. Now it's raining, but cold rain is the yuckiest weather so I want to stay inside. Maybe I'll run outside really quick so I can visit Tiny Squeak in the Gram House, but maybe I'll find Number-dad and hide in his RUFF.
Solstice is getting closer and closer. That means it's PARTY SEASON, and that's why Spin and Maz and Hebichi and Jackie and Cattail and I dreamed about a Wiggling Weasel Dance Party. It was all the weasels from the DAPPER CAPYBARA, and more people like Zig-Zag and Rose-gram and Clover-auncle, and then the checker cats and tree octos and spidies from the Checkerland ships tried to have a party at the same place because they heard it was good for sailors, so it was a HUGE party. I think all of the Exploration Club was there, and some capybaras, and other people who sailed on the expedition. A bunch of the Checkerland sailors brought their pet BATTIES too, and the weasels who had parrots and monkeys brought them, and it was a really FUN and CROWDED party. I tried a little bit of RUM, that's sugary grownup juice for sailors, but I didn't like it. The weasels said they could get a party jelly to sting me, but I said NO WAY. I think they were just teasing me.
When I woke up, I still wanted to dance really WIGGLY so everybody laughed but I didn't mind. I had a really FUN dream.
Ruffur-teacher wasn't at the party because he isn't a sailor, or maybe because he's shy, but the weasels said a lot of nice things about him, because the desalinizer and cleaning bombs he invented are really handy. That made me really happy. You're a GENIUS, Ruffur-teacher!
The snow is GONE, but it was bright and sunny today even though there was an ICY WIND, so playing outside was still fun. Hiding under a tarp in the treehouse with a bunch of my friends was fun too, because it's SNUGGLING SEASON.
It's been an EXCITING week. We helped a baby cryptie, but a giant porcypine DIED. Clover is grown up and there was a dance party and snow fighting and snuggling. There's been lots of weather too.
Last night's dream adventure was weird. We went snowmobiling again, but now there are big CONES made of snow on the flat places. They're as big as the Gram House! We think the porcypines made them, because we saw some around them, but we don't know what they're for. We didn't see any doors, so they probably aren't houses. Maybe they're magic, but they didn't sound like it. Dmitri thinks it's how porcypines show off to each other, to decide who gets to have babies in the spring. We didn't see LOTS of porcypines looking at them, though, and the ones that were there were boys and girls both. When the porcypines came to audit our Dancing Spider Glyph Class, we asked them, but they never say anything. It's MYSTERIOUS.
When we told people in the Awake World about the cones, Bina and the pocket foxies said maybe they were launchpads for jumping into the snow or flying on kites. Morning said they were sculptures. Gobi and Jonny thought they were sculptures for showing off. Nico said maybe they were magic that isn't ready yet. We don't know who's right. It's still mysterious!
Since there wasn't any snow or rain today, we did bike racing, but the wind made it really TRICKY.
I didn't dream about a party this time, but it was LIKE a party. Lots of people were by Elephant Cat's tree even though it was a snowy night because they were shopping for PRESENTS, and all the stores were playing music and everybody was really happy and excited. Lots of kids went to Elephant Cat and this time they told him what presents they want OTHER people to get. Some tree octos and spidies put on fake white beards and pompom hats to help Elephant Cat, and the kids thought that was REALLY GREAT.
After we brought Elephant Cat 2 buckets of warm juice, a masquillion SHEEPIES came, with Tansy-gram and Edward-gram and Ruffur-teach and HEATHER-AUNCLE and some goaties and like that. They stood in line really POLITE and then said they hoped their families would get a BEACH VACATION. Elephant Cat said really serious that he thought that might happen, because he knows we go to Sea Monster Cove every year, and all the sheepies CHEERED. That made everybody happy too. They're really nice sheepies!
Even Podge and their gullies came to see what was going on. They did some FOOD PIRACY but mostly they took food people dropped or threw away. They don't talk, but they all went and yelled at Elephant Cat, so maybe they understood SOME of what was going on. Happy Solstice, guys!
The Awake World had holiday spirit too, because in choir we practiced and practiced for the holiday concert. That's going to be on the 20th, right before Solstice. We have the songs pretty good, but we want to be even BETTER. It's the day before Solstice so all my family can come and hear me sing!
Happy CALICO CAT DAY! We called Tansy-auncle and Cally-auncle to cheer for them, since I wasn't ORGANIZED enough to send them a card ahead of time. They liked that a lot, so I was happy.
I got to wish Lucille and Zagreus a Happy Calico Cat Day too, because I went to Winter Cat Day last night. We went to the one with 3 Orange Socks, by his cave, because he asked to see his Tiny Squeak and her mum. I think Tiny Squeak is like Max, because she said "Um!" to her DAD when she wanted him to give her love. Everybody thought she was really great!
It was a nice Cat Day. It was just in the cave and the valley outside of it, but there were a masquillion cats and lots of them were my friends and the rest of them were nice. Dmitri and I went with the Truck-grams to get a bunch of sushi and meat from the city and we were really proud to HELP. Number-dad and Edward-gram did a lot of the barbecuing, so it was really yummy, and everybody did lots of tussles and cat games and singing important songs and like that. I listened to a lot of songs, because I want to learn them all, but I did snow fights with the other kittens a lot too. We built a whole bunch of tunnels to sneak through, but we played so rough they caved in and then we had TRENCHES.
The cats from the 5 Grams Clowder weren't there, probably because the weather wasn't good for traveling. I was sad to not see Sky Kitten, but I hope she's really safe and snug with her family.
It's only 2 days until the concert, so we did extra practice this afternoon. We can do it, guys!
There was another day of Cat Day and the 5 Grams Clowder was THERE. They got too much snow on the way so they were LATE. We were all really glad to see them and gave them a masquillion snuggles and threw them into snowdrifts and shared the barbecue fish with them and it was really NICE. Sky Kitten keeps GROWING, and now she can pick up Tiny Squeak and carry her around really PROUD like a mom cat. It's adorable!
Max and Annabelle and I played with Sky Kitten and the other young kittens a lot. Being big siblings is really nice, even though little siblings are really FEROCIOUS and not very good at listening and cry a lot. They're so cute and we love them so much that we don't mind!
It's the last day of Cat Day, but lots of cats are going to stay at Socks's cave to talk to him and his advisors and maybe trade with each other. Since it won't be Cat Day, people who AREN'T cats can visit and I can get EVERBODY to come play with Sky Kitten.
Toka REALLY wants to visit all the cats and especially Sky Kitten.
We didn't have Orchestra Class because we had so much Choir practice. We're doing the concert TOMORROW. I'm really ANXIOUS.
