Everybody is still going to monster-hunter practice even though some people got hurt practicing with REAL LASERS. Everybody who isn't going got really unhappy when they heard about that. I don't want my family to get hurt even practicing here where there are really good doctors, but they won't stop because people are going to need them be ready when there are more monsters. Zora is being brave, but Rei and Nico are really sad. I'm sad too.
Annabelle did 3 more shoots of modelling and then the catalog people said they had ENOUGH PICTURES. Brunel was in all of them, and 2 of them had a bunch of the other kittens, and all the model kittens had parents with them and lots of them had siblings, so our family met lots of other families and it was really nice and we made some new friends, but sometimes there were so many kittens it was TOO RAMBUNCTIOUS and I had to hide. Sometimes other kittens had to hide too, so I got to be friends with Alexina and Morrow and Mercury even though we're all a little bit shy.
The catalog won't be ready for a little while yet, but I think it will be really great. All the models are really pretty and the clothes are really cool and look warm and dry.
Octavio-auncle helped the Exploration Club get the building that Isambard told them about. I think it used to be a little store but now it's empty so they can fix it up. There's enough room for all the club members, even Maa-uu, and walls they can put maps on. It's really great and I wish I had a place like that. I could have an office at the zoo, but it seems mean to make anybody move out of their office when they need it to do work. Maybe Hebichi and Spin and I can make a secret base somewhere.
We had a sleepover at Hebichi's. It was them and Spin and Blond Dmitry and Jeanne and me and not my Dmitri. He wanted to go too, but Jeanne said the sleepover was just for us, and he didn't get mad like I was afraid he would, he was proud of her for setting a BOUNDARY. I think that's being a good friend. It was a nice sleepover. We watched lots of funny cartoons and looked at Toka's funny kitty pictures and ate yummy nut bars and tried to not make too much trouble for Hebichi's dads. We stayed up late whispering, so we were still awake when Toka snuck in with their tortilla blanket and cheese pillow to be a baby quesadilla by us, and we had to pull them into the middle and snuggle them a whole bunch. I think we were SIDE DISHES.
Toka came on our dream adventure so we couldn't do anything scary, but we went for a walk in Dragon-mayor's city and had some real quesadillas made with cheese and steak and salsa instead of babies and showed Toka the Exploration Clubhouse and the giant snake skeleton and then went to the CAT CAFÉ and petted really friendly housecats. Toka thought that was the BEST THING EVER and Hebichi is worried they'll pester their dads too much and cause trouble, but I think it will be OK.
In the morning, Dmitri and Humbold came to get me. Maybe it was a little bit so Dmitri could see Jeanne, but it made me really happy.
Another day, we were playing outside and a BIG BUG flew in Hebichi's frills. That's what they call all the fins and spikes they have on their head instead of hair, that gets them called Little Dragon. The bug couldn't hurt them, because they're an ultramodern person, but it felt all itchy and tickly and WEIRD so they squacked a lot. Spin and I tried to get it out with sticks, but it just crawled DEEPER. Then Jean said he knew what to do and poured a whole BUCKET of water onto Hebichi's head! Spin and I jumped out of the way, but Hebichi got COMPLETELY SOGGY and squacked even more. It washed the bug out, though. Blond Dmitry laughed so much he fell over. Even Hebichi thought it was really funny when he got his clothes changed.
Last night we dreamed about learning dancing spider glyphs with Cally again. This time we learned about what the way the spiders are standing with their back legs means. It was really complicated and our brains got tired, so we went for a walk. It's too muddy for snowmobiles now. We went through some trees, and then we heard BIG STOMPING behind us so we ran back to see the big animals, but even though there were lots of footprints in the mud, we didn't see ANYBODY. I think they're INVISIBLE. Simoun wanted to know how to write "invisible" in dancing spider glyphs, so we went back and studied some more. I was a little bit WORRIED because if the animals stepped on us, that would be really bad, but Cally and Humboldt said they probably stay away from people and hunting animals. That's smart, but I wish I could be friends with them. Maybe they could come live in my zoo, and then it would be OK for people to look at them.
Spin and Hebichi and Max and Annabelle and I had a nice space train dream. We visited Isaac and talked to him about ORBITS and Cruithne and rainbows and he played with Mazurkasaurus Regina and we did some tussles and talked about how our cousin-grams are going to MARS. The space train is getting close to Mars too, so maybe we can visit them in dreams. That would be really nice. We ate some space veggies and that was weird because they wiggled a little bit. Maz liked them. She liked not having gravity too. We didn't think an animal who runs a lot would, but she likes jumping and doing flips and though it was really funny when she got stuck floating in the middle of the room and Spin had to rescue her. She's a really good dino.
At magic singing class, we practiced the Rain Rain Go Away song a little bit but then we started talking about how to WRITE DOWN magic songs. I can read music notes because we're learning in band class, but for magic singing it doesn't just matter what note you sing. There are lots of important things about HOW you sing the notes. VV-teacher showed us some ways that people try to write those, but it's really hard to read because there's too much on every note. Stev showed us another way that he found, but it doesn't have ENOUGH on every note. We talked and talked about what needs to get written down until Lilja-auncle knocked on the door and said it was time for dinner and we still didn't know how to do it. Lots of smart people have worked on this before and they couldn't do it so maybe we can't either. I think trying is good because maybe it will help us understand magic singing better.
It was a really SOGGY week. It rained on cats and dogs. It rained so much even ultra-modern people put on coats and hats and galoshes to run through the outside. It rained down a storm! It rained in the mountains, too, so all the rivers that come into the lake OVERFLOWED and then the drains to take water away overflowed and there was water in the streets and the LAKE overflowed. My house isn't close to the lake or any rivers, but Blond Dmitry lives right next to a river so they had to get some robots to put up a WALL to keep their yard from being a puddle! It was a little bit scary because our city hardly ever floods, but nobody got hurt.
On a night before there was flooding, Dmitri and Humboldt and I put up a big TARP over the treehouse and slept out there. It was really nice to hear the rain on the roof and talk about brother stuff. I don't know how brother stuff is different from sibling stuff but it KIND OF is. Then Rei peeked in and we made them come up and talk with us so it was COUSIN stuff. Everybody wanted to talk about dates and snogs so I went to sleep but it was still nice to have lots of snuggles and rain noises.
We dreamed we went to a furniture store to get COUCHES for the Expedition Clubhouse. Rei wanted to try lots of different couches, so Humboldt said they were trying to find the best couch to do snogs on with Cara and Rei got embarrassed. We got two big soft green couches and a huge rubber mat for Maa-uu and a heavy-duty power cord for Explorobot and borrowed a cart to take them all to the clubhouse as fast as we could because it looked like it was going to rain there too. We got the couches inside just before it rained so we were really proud of ourselves. Then we sat on the really comfy couches and talked about EXPLORER stuff.
It was soggy in the Dreamlands too, except when we carried couches really FAST. The valley where we learn about dancing spider glyphs is almost FLOODED, so we have to row metal boats to get to the hill with the circle stones. Spin fell in and got all soggy, so it's good that he's an ultra-modern person who's strong against cold. It was a little bit SPOOKY reading books of spider glyphs in the dark with water all around that we couldn't see into, but it was too cold for crocodiles and snakes and giant salamanders. Nothing bothered us.
Number-dad and Fairy-mom and Dragon-mom started going to monster-hunting class this week. They say they aren't going to go hunting, but they want to be READY if monsters attack when all the hunters are busy in different towns. I don't think they're fibbing, but I'm worried they'll think they have to go hunting if there are more monsters than hunters, and then maybe they'll get KILLED and we'll be orphans. I don't want anybody I love to get hurt or killed, but ESPECIALLY not my mommies and daddies. We were all really said when they told us and our whole family cried. It didn't stop them from going.
Big Sam's mom and dad are working hard at MARS CLASSES because they want to go on a spaceship that leaves in JULY. That's pretty soon, so Big Sam and his brother and sister and all the bear-cousins are sad too. The bear-cousins are Peggy and Alexander and Sarah and Eliza, and Zemmy is Sarah and Eliza's house-cousin and best friend so they come to visit with them a lot. Everybody will miss the bear-grams a LOT, but going to Mars is really cool. We all have complicated feelings.
Orchestra class is still really good even though we can't decide whether to call it band class or orchestra class. We're getting better at making music together and following Momo-teacher's CONDUCTING. I think Momo-teacher is getting better at conducting, too. She doesn't want people to know, but when she was Momo-auncle, I saw her practicing from a book so I think she's learning too.
Elevator Alligator said he didn't need to get any more pictures, so Annabelle got Number-dad to take her to the TAIL STORE. Now she has a really long and soft grey tail and looks more grownup even though she's only 1 day older than when she had her baby tail. Hurray for Annabelle's new tail!
Octavio-auncle gave us some copies of the catalog that Annabelle modeled for. All the kittens in it are really cute and make the clothes look cool. Max and Annabelle got new galoshes from the catalog for in the Dreamlands, but in the Awake World we can get all the clothes we need from the clothes machine in the Gram House. The Dreamlands are really OLD-FASHIONED about lots of stuff.
Annabelle took the catalog to school to show everybody and they all said she looked really cute and talked about what clothes made her cutest and thought about clothes she should wear like she's a DRESS-UP DOLL. I think that's weird, but she likes it.
Because we had to be inside so much, there was lots of building with Lego this week. Simoun and I built a TRUNDLING ROBOT CASTLE and it went all over the house and Sahara and Humboldt made ROBOT MONSTERS to chase it and try to get inside. It was hard to make the robots do the right thing, but Zeb-auncle and Bob-auncle and some of the other pocket foxies gave us good IDEAS and now we're all smarter with robots.
Today was a day of SNUZZLING. Max snuzzled VV-gram's tummy and said it was weird, but VV-gram said that's because it's getting ready to make milk. Then Max said she could feel the kitten WIGGLING so we all had to snuzzle VV-gram's tummy with our whiskers and feel them. It was really nice. It's already APRIL so the kitten is going to be born in 4 or 5 months. That seems like a long time, but it seems like a short time too. I really want to meet the new kitten!
Later VV-gram was looking at baby pictures with Nessie-auncle and Big Sam again, and there was a picture of Nessie snuzzling baby Nico's BUM. Everybody teased her, but she said it was so soft anybody would do that. We looked at Big Sam, and he did SKETCHY EYES, so maybe it was true. Rei asked if Nico was embarrassed to have people look at pictures like that, because they would be, but Nico said it proves his bum is always THE BEST, and he looked really proud. Then Pixie said she wanted to check and tried to do a piracy on Nico's trousers and Zora said boy bums aren't that great so her dad wanted to put her upside-down and Clover said STANDING-UP bums aren't that great and there were a lot of silly tussles. I have funny cousins.
In the Dreamlands, we visited 3 Orange Socks again and Max told him about feeling the kitten wiggle, so he snuzzled VV-gram's tummy a lot and looked really proud. It was a little bit funny, but he's going to be a dad to that kitten so I think he can be proud. Then lots of lady cats snuzzled VV-gram to try to find out if the kitten is doing well, but the DOCTOR already said they are, so VV-gram got cross and sat on top of building frowning at everybody. Some people said it's because growing a kitten in your body makes you MOODY, that means all your feelings are bigger, but I think it's OK to not want lots of people on your tummy.
I didn't notice because I see her every day, but VV-gram's tummy is getting really ROUND. When her friend who doesn't visit often came over, she got really EXCITED like us. VV-gram and her tummy are really amazing!
Humboldt and Hebichi and I took Toka and Secret and Secret's house-cousin JJ to the cat café in the Dreamlands. They thought it was really great because they like housecats. They petted them and wiggled toys for them and called them silly names and said silly stuff to them like "Who has the funniest face, Ms Squinchy Nose? Is it you? It is!". Some of the housecats were scared of Humboldt and me, but we laid down really QUIET and then they came to snuggle us and we all purred together. It was lots of fun.
After band class we went to Bina's house to jump on their TRAMPOLINE. Their gram was there, and she didn't say silly stuff to me but she called me silly names. She called me Mister Smoochy Paws because I kissed Hebichi so much, so I had to SMOOCH HER PAWS. Everybody laughed a lot. Her brain is a little bit weird but she's a good gram.
I was happy today.
Number-dad and Shoe-auncle went to visit Monster-gram because he's really sick and had to go to the hospital. Monster-gram is like Flower-gram and Ribbon-Gram in a DIFFERENT DIMENSION and I really like Flower-gram, so I got worried too. Humboldt and I followed them really SNEAKY but they caught us and we got in TROUBLE because we aren't supposed to go to different dimensions by OURSELVES, but Number-dad and Shoe-auncle took us the rest of the way so we could see Monster-gram. The hospital smelled weird, and there were lots of people who were really unhappy, and they didn't have any hospital boxes or robots or anything. There were lots of nurses and doctors who wanted to help people get better, but they didn't always know how. It's like Shoe-auncle's veterinary hospital.
Monster-gram isn't a monster, he's a human. He's really WEIRD and pretends like he's a monster a lot, but he doesn't really eat anybody's brain. He didn't take good care of his body so it wanted to get rid of all the water inside, that's called DEHYDRATION. The nurses put some hoses in his arms to fill him back up with water again and he was getting OK, but he has to do better in the future!
When we woke up at home, we got a TALKING TO because our parents think going to different dimensions isn't SAFE even if Humboldt is a really good explorer. We didn't get grounded, but I felt bad. Maybe I won't do that any more.
Number-dad said Monster-gram went home from the hospital so he'll be OK now. I'm glad. I don't want people to be sick.
Number-dad and Simoun have brain cows, so they went to visit with the glassblower lady, Morphana-artist. They told her what it's like to have brain cows and how to take care of them, and their brain cows got to visit. Maybe some of the brain cows moved to other brains because they wanted to be in different HERDS, but I think that's OK.
Morphana-artist sent some beautiful GLASS FLOWERS to my zoo to say thank you for the brain cows. They're all different bright colors and different kinds of flowers like a bouquet from a flower store so I put them in a case by the front gate of the zoo for everybody to see. I hope it makes lots of people want beautiful glass art.
Some of the people doing monster hunter training had to go to SAINT PETERSBURG to hunt monsters. That's in Russia. They have a scary monster that goes around in a MAGIC HOUSE stealing people to eat. It even steals little kids. That's really bad, but I'm scared for the people who had to go even though they aren't in my family. I hope they can do enough fighting and magic to get rid of the monster without anybody else getting hurt. I don't know if they can.
It was rainy for lots of days, but then it was SUNNY. I ran outside and I didn't need a raincoat or a rainhat or galoshes so I kept running. I ran to the Gram House but that wasn't enough running. I ran to the park and that wasn't enough running. Simoun and Sahara and Humboldt caught up and ran with me. Some kids were in the park and they wanted to know why we were running but we were too busy running to tell them so they ran with us. We all ran to the spider park and there were more kids there but I ran past them and all the way up the spiderweb where Zora and Ai were and I ROARED as loud as I could! Ai fell off and rolled all the way down to where Simoun pounced on her, but Zora roared back so I squacked and almost rolled down too! Then all the other kids climbed up and pushed us off so were in a big pile at the bottom of the web but it was SUNNY.
After that there was a bunch of wind and the clouds and rain came back so we had to run inside because we didn't have coats. That made me really mad, but I was still happy from the sunshine so I didn't bite anybody and I shared ice cream with Ai because she likes purpleberry too.
It was an up and down day.
I did a piracy and it worked! Nico was on his porch swing reading a book and Poli was sitting on him reading a different book and they had a plate of cheese and crackers and sausage Big Sam gave them. I snuck around the Cousin House and on the side of the swing where they couldn't see and under the swing REALLY SNEAKY. When they were talking about books, I grabbed the plate and ran away to the treehouse and I was RIGHT, they were too comfy to chase me. I sat in the treehouse and ate smoky sausage slices and three kinds of cheese on fancy crackers and felt really proud. Then Nessie-auncle came out and asked if Nico ate the whole plate and they RATTED on me and Nessie made me say I'm a nice pirate and share my booty with hungry people, so I took it all back to Nico and Poli and sat on Nico's legs to read my book. They got lots of food because teenagers are ALWAYS HUNGRY, but I was a good pirate.
Lots more stuff happened because it was a whole week, but I don't think it was interesting enough to write down. It was an up and down week. Maybe I should say it was a rain and shine week except it really was so that's not a METAPHOR.
Last night me and all big my siblings went to the Exploration Clubhouse and the rest of the Exploration Club was there and we helped them finish putting together the GIANT SNAKE SKELETON with wires. Then we hung it from the ceiling with more wires, so it looked like it was slithering out of the corner and it was really COOL. They have lots of maps on the walls now and Maa-uu got some extra blankets to make a nest on her rubber mat and it's a really nice clubhouse. It makes me want a secret hideout.
After the skeleton was finished, it was night, so we went to the Honeycat concert and we found out that Inverted Obverse is OPENING for them! Opening is where a band that's more famous helps a band that plays the same kind of music but isn't as famous by having them be at their concerts and play some before the main band plays. That way more people get to hear the opening band than if they only had their own shows, and the main band gets to have everybody excited when they start. We didn't know Inverted Obverse played in the Dreamlands but that's how they know Honeycat songs to COVER them.
It was a really good show! Inverted Obverse played their 5 songs that everybody likes and we all jumped up and down and sang with them and then Honeycat came out and the meerbots went "meer, meer" when Aimée INTRODUCED them, and everybody yelled "MEER MEER" and the meerbots pretended to fall over and it was really funny and then they played music still on the ground but they can do that because they're ROBOTS and it was really great. They did some new songs and some old songs and some songs from RISE OF THE MEERBOTS and Aimée SANG UP A STORM and everybody yelled and sang and danced and it was really fun! I didn't want the concert to end but I think Aimée's throat got tired and everybody's feet were tired from dancing, so it ended.
I was a little bit sad that Hebichi and Spin weren't there, but in the Awake World, I found out they were! They were on the other side of the concert hall so we didn't meet them, but they were there with us and heard the music and danced and had a really good time. It made me happy to hear that.
The 5 best Inverted Obverse songs that everybody likes are "Flyfalling", "Bottled Tea on Thursday", "Special #4", "Wishing Penny", and "Darkest Night". Some people think "Hoops" is better than "Special #4", but those people have SKETCHY BRAINS.
I read what I wrote yesterday and now I feel a little bit bad. It's OK when people like different songs than me. I don't need to say anything about their BRAINS.
We heard from the monster hunters who went to Saint Petersburg in Russia to save people from a really mean monster who eats KIDS. It was really hard to find the monster's magic house because it moves around sneakily, and they think some people are helping it so it will eat people they don't like. That's really bad! I think people who help monsters are called CULTISTS or THRALLS. They make things more complicated because when people call monster hunters to help, they want them to only fight monsters, and get really mad if people get hurt even if those people are cultists. It's because it isn't OK to just say somebody is a cultist and shoot them, you have to have a TRIAL to find out for sure first.
I know the monster hunters are really tough and brave, but I'm really worried about them.
The monster hunters who went to Saint Petersburg came HOME. They got in a little bit of trouble because they had to fight with cultists, but they killed the monster and RESCUED 2 kids who got stolen but not eaten yet. That part made me really happy! Our monster hunters are really brave and fierce. They brought back the monster's head but Flower-gram and VV-gram are going to hide it somewhere so it doesn't come back to life. Maybe they can use it to figure out how to stop that kind of monster better so no more people get eaten.
All the monster hunters who didn't go are still practicing lots, but I'm not as worried. I still don't want Nessie-auncle and Sam-auncle to go, though.
The weather this week is lots nicer. The clouds look really fancy and white and don't have too much rain. There's a lot of wind so people flew kites and did KITE FIGHTING. That's where the kite strings are SHARP and you try to cut the other kite's string so it flies away. It isn't sad because the kites know how to fold up so they float down and call to get picked up. Hebichi and I tried kite fighting against Bina and some other kids from school but we didn't do very good. It was fun making kites fly on the wind, though.
Last week, Zora's snogging friend Ai had skin that's purple like an EGGPLANT and hair that that was s really light yellow like CORN TASSELS and it was really pretty, but this week she said she wants to CHANGE HER COLORS. I said she should do RAINBOWS, but she likes having just some colors, not all of them at the same time. She tried having light blue hair and dark blue skin but that wasn't right so then she had skin that's yellowy-orange like SUNSET and dark blue hair like TWILIGHT and she's really BEAUTIFUL. Zora swooned when she saw, that's when you love someone so much that looking at them makes you faint. She was being funny, but it made Ai really happy.
Annabelle wants to change her colors now, but she wants to stay the same color so she's beautiful with grey spots like Ani-auncle TOO, so her feelings are really COMPLICATED. Maybe she'll wear dresses like Max so she can change her colors every day.
One day I felt a little bit sad and lonely so I went to my zoo and booped all the animals on their NOSES and then I felt better. The next day Annabelle felt a little bit sad, so I took her to my zoo to boop some noses and it made her feel a lot better. Animal noses are really good!
We learned more about dancing spider glyphs, and what it means when the spiders are HOLDING HANDS, and it gave Simoun an IDEA. In Magic Singing class we talked about making different musical notes hold hands so there didn't have to be too much stuff on every one, and Number-teacher and VV-teacher thought it was a really good idea. My sister's really smart!
Naomi-auncle came to visit at the Cousin House. She's Nessie-auncle and Big Sam's friend from when they were kids like me, and they're still friends. That makes me really happy because maybe Hebichi and Spin and everybody can still be my friends when we're really GROWN UP. Naomi-auncle is round and pretty like Flower-gram and she's a little bit like a leopard with yellow fur and brown spots and she's a NURSE and she's really nice because she can even be nice to people who are grouchy when they feel bad. Naomi and Nessie have a really good TEAMWORK YELL where the one who wants them to do something says "double" and the other one says "N-chan" because both their names start with N, and then the first one says what they want to do, and both of them say "ACTION". So they said "Double", "N-chan", "VV-pampering", "ACTION!" and then they both got VV-gram her warm pillow and some yummy juice and rubbed her paws and told her what a good MOMMY CAT she is.
I want to have a teamwork yell with my friends but I haven't thought of a good one yet.
My big siblings cooked us a PIZZA PARTY. They got some extra pizza cooking boxes, and made a bunch of dough, and got all kinds of cheese and sauce and toppings, and we made a masquillion different pizzas and it was really fun and YUMMY. Our tummies got really full and we teased VV-gram that her new kitten is going to be MADE OUT OF PIZZA and Sahara drew a picture of a kitten who was white and red except for crusty brown points and had round hams and little yellow pineapple and mushrooms all over, because that was the pizza VV-gram liked the most. VV-gram pretended to be grouchy, but she put that picture on her fridge to look at.
After we finished eating and were sitting outside, there was a lot of wind, but I had my cozy purple sweater that Spin gave me at Solstice so I was nice and warm and I sat with Big Sam and we talked about bird nests and stuff and it was really nice.
I WORRIED about things this week, but everything that happened was OK. It was a GOOD WEEK.
We heard BIG NEWS from Shoe-auncle! He's been a veterinarian for a long time, but now he's going to STOP. I worried about the kitties and doggies that he won't help any more, but he said that there are lots of really good veterinarians at his hospital, but there aren't any DRAGON DOCTORS in Dragon-mayor's town, even though there are more and more dragons. He's right. Dragons are big and tough but they can get hurt like Polky-Dot Dragon, and maybe they can get sick with GERMS. It's a really good idea for them to have a doctor, so Shoe-auncle is going to do RESEARCH and learn how while he helps them. He's still going to be a PROFESSOR to teach new veterinarians, so he can teach dragon doctors too. We're all really proud of him for wanting to help people. I hope I can be that nice when I grow up.
Number-dad and I took Shoe-auncle to my ZOO to say nihao to the people who take care of the dinos and ellyphants and other REALLY BIG animals. He's used to being a doctor for kitties and doggies he can pick up, but now he's going to be a doctor for HUGE DRAGONS. The person in charge of dinos at my zoo is Tater. He's a big light brown bear and he's really strong and nice so he made friends with Shoe-auncle really quick. He showed Shoe-auncle the DINO HAMMOCK that's for when a dino has to get moved somewhere but can't walk, and the dino-carrying TRUCK, and the big hoses for when big dinos make big MESSES. Shoe-auncle made lots of notes about how he has to make the DRAGON CLINIC.
We had some WARM AFTERNOONS this week, so we went SWIMMING. Ultra-modern people swim even during the winter because they're really tough, but for kittens it's the start of Pool Season. There was more wind and clouds in the evenings, but that's when we wanted to go home at EAT, so it was OK. I like when the wind blows and I'm warm and cozy and have warm food.
We got new ellyphants at my zoo. The old ones got tired of getting looked at so they went back to where they live, and a different herd came to get treats and medicine and have people say how great they are. I'm glad they know how to TAKE TURNS.
I still want to get the HUGE INVISIBLE animals from the valley where we learn about dancing spider glyphs, but they're TOO SNEAKY. I tried leaving some big yummy vegetables out to get them to come over, but they ate them when I wasn't looking! I'm going to try leaving a sign in case they can read.
We went to Tansy's Sheep Place for SHEARING DAY. That's the day in springtime when the sheepies say it's warm enough that they don't need their wool any more, and it gets shaved off so they can sell it to people to make into YARN. Tansy's sheepies are really special, so wizards buy the wool to make magic SWEATERS and stuff. That's how the Sheep Place gets money to buy food and pay teachers and everything. Even Heather-auncle gets sheared though she's a standing-up sheepie, because she wants to help.
Tansy-auncle and Pounce-auncle and everybody can do the shearing, but we go because it's good to have more people to help and it's nice to visit the sheepies. Zeb-auncle and Momo-auncle and Bob-auncle closed school for the day so all the kids got a VACATION but only the ones who are our SPECIAL friends come to Shearing Day, like Hebichi and Faun and Ouma and Secret. Hebichi's and Faun's WHOLE FAMILIES came, so we needed extra vans. I wish Spin and Blond Dmitry and Jeanne could come, but they aren't in our school, so they don't get the vacation.
Really early in the morning, we put everything into vans with CHECKLISTS and we drove there and hugged all the sheepies while they got sheared and took some NAPS with the lambies to keep them warm and Big Sam swung the sheepies who like it upside down and Nessie hugged the ones who don't like it and we played hide and seek with the sheepies and goaties and goaters and had a big VEGETABLE FEAST. It was a really fun day but then we were all WORN OUT and slept in the vans on the way home, even the ultramodern kids. I got to sleep between Clover and Pixie and Hebichi used my leg for a pillow, so I was really comfy and warm and happy.
It was a really good Shearing Day and I got a masquillion sheepie kisses.
All my classes this week were really good. I learned a lot about dancing spider glyphs and playing fiddle in an orchestra and regular singing and magic singing and fighting and volleyball and baking and I didn't make any big mistakes and all my teachers said I did a good job. I was really proud and I didn't let Simoun say my head was too big. I pounced on her and TICKLED her instead! I'm a cat so it's OK for me to be proud when I do lots of good stuff!
