Happy New Year!
The SAYING is "start as you mean to go on", and when the new year started, I was helping a nice dino get comfy in her new HOUSE. Good job, Samuel!
Tater was ALMOST ready when we got to the zoo, but it took a while, so I helped and then Cattil and I took a nap by Wembley until it was time for the train HOME. She's doing really GOOD at the zoo. You're home now, Wembley!
Now I'm at MY house in the Awake World but everybody is still asleep because they were up late at the PARTY. I'm going to make PANCAKES for them. After that, maybe I'll take another NAP.
Everybody liked the pancakes and said I was really nice to help Wembley and gave me NEW YEAR KISSES and I felt like I did a really GOOD job and then I took a nap on Clover's shelf because she was at Oona's. I'm going to go play with Hebichi and Spin and everybody, but first I'm going to LOAF here
I had to stop writing because Max POUNCED me and I had to tussle her a lot. She's a really GOOD little sister. But now I'm awake!
I spent a whole week playing with Spin and Hebichi and Jeanne on the BEACH but I had fun with them today too. We went ice skating on the LAKE with Bina and Blond Dmitri, and Morning and Sammy from fiddling class were there, and lots of other people. It's been so COLD here that the lake is frozen way down and it's safe for everybody to skate. But maybe not everybody at the SAME time. It was pretty crowded and lots of people crashed into each other, but nobody got mad. After we skated for a long time, I got TOO COLD and we all went to have warm juice. Ai and Zora were at the ice cream store we go to, and we sat with them and played SPOONS. That's a game where you try to get 4 OF A KIND and steal the spoons from the middle of the table. It's a good PIRATE game because you can win by being fast or by being SNEAKY.
We told vacation stories and SPINOSAURUS stories and Zora told MERMAID stories that made people laugh because they want to be teenagers. Bina wanted to hear more about mermaids and snogs. I think they're going to be a teenager even though they're in my year. I don't know if I like that. I had lots of fun, though!
Happy birthday VV-GRAM!
We just got back from VACATION so it wasn't a LOUD party but lots of her FAMILY was there and her Elegant Siamese Society and lots of other FRIENDS and we sang a masquillion verses of the Violetta Is Really Great Song. All of Mlle. Squeaks's NIBLINGS took turns watching her so her mum could dance and snuggle OTHER people. Maybe Tiny Squeak doesn't know what a party is, but I think she knew people were EXCITED because she wiggled lots and lots. AND she gave VV-gram the best present by rolling on her tummy pushing with ALL her paws. If she practices that a little bit more, she can crawl and then WALK and then ZOOM. Keep it up, Tiny Squeak!
Lots of other people gave VV-gram presents too. She got lots of stuff for being more beautiful, like fur conditioner and JEWELS, but she got books and a picture of SUNRISE and fancy WINE for when she can drink it again. Some kittens gave her a quilt that's white and brown and orange and has beautiful blue spots, like her and Tiny Squeak TOGETHER. I think we did a good job on the pattern, and we made it out of fabric that's really easy to CLEAN, because blankets get messy a lot when there's a spitting-up kitten. Stay cozy, mom and baby cats!
VV-gram is a GROWNUP, so her party was mostly for grownups, but Anastasia and Frida and Momiya and Logan, those are the kids of the Elegant Siamese Society, were all there so us kittens had somebody to play with. We did a lot of DANCING too, because it's really fun, but we played Shadow Monsters outside until we got super-cold and had to come back in and be a big warm PILE with warm juice and that was nice too. Frida smelled really NICE because she had flowery PERFUME. Annabelle wants perfume now.
Hebichi and I stopped taking volleyball class so we can learn SKATEBOARDING, but it's still from Ilona-teacher. I have to use a longboard because I'm LONG but that's OK. I'm going to keep learning farming, but right now I'm going to art practice at that time because it's WINTER and plants aren't growing. I'm still learning choir and orchestra and magic singing and fighting.
Wembley is doing really good in her new POND. It's winter, so she stays near where the WARM water comes in, but she makes happy noises when people come to see her, and she's eating lots of TUNA. Sometimes when people lean way over the railing to see her, she stands up really TALL to sniff them and they squack because she has BIG TEETH. She can't reach the viewing area, though, and she's too big to jump, so even if she wasn't nice, it would be safe. But she's a really nice spino!
After orchestra class, I went ice skating again and it was really fun. Lots of kids from school were there, and Clover was there and she was STANDING UP and had a pretty skating dress and tights and TWIRLED. Lots of people thought she was pretty and caught her when she got so dizzy from twirling that she FELL OVER. I think she might be a little bit SILLY. Then she went to skate all the way across the lake with Rafe and Oona and some other teenagers from her classes so I did more skate-dancing with Hebichi and Spin and Dmitri and everybody until it got cold and dark and we wanted to go HOME. We skated so much we were by a different bus stop, and when we went up there, I saw a toy store, and there was a BABY DINO in the window and they looked so cute I had to go see and then I had to BUY them so I missed the bus and Dmitri and Hebichi missed the bus by waiting for me. I was really sorry, but it all turned out OK. My family didn't eat all the dinner, and after dinner I could go over to the Gram House and give Tiny Squeak a really CUTE round baby MICRORAPTOR to cuddle and chew on. I looked on her tag and she's OK FOR BABIES. I think her name is Miggie. Tiny Squeak chewed on her WING and then fell asleep. That's how a tiny kitten says she LIKES a toy. VV-gram was really happy because she still wants everybody to be REALLY nice to Mlle. Squeaks.
A microraptor is a kind of little tree dino who has arm-wings AND leg-wings. Miggie is still a baby so she doesn't have lots of feathers for flying, but if she gets to be Tiny Squeak's dream-helping animal, maybe they can grow up TOGETHER. If she's just a toy, that's OK too. Not all plush animals are connected with the Dreamlands.
Now I'm going to jump up in a swinging bed and SLEEP because I'm still a little worn out from staying up to help Wembley get COZY.
When I woke up and looked outside, it was finally SNOWING. There was a little bit of wind to make the snowflakes whirl around, but it wasn't as windy and cold as it has been. I hope the rest of the winter is like this!
In magic singing class, we had Humboldt and Dmitri with us too, and we all learned about singing for the WEATHER. Whistling up winds is a really ANCIENT technique, but now people know lots of other techniques. My big brothers were there to tell the class how they helped on the Solstice to keep bad weather away from our city. That's why we have some snow and wind, but not BLIZZARDS like in the places around us. It's really interesting, because we learned in school how weather works with sunshine making different parts of Earth warmer so air goes up and down and the turning of Earth changes up and down into east and west and it's really COMPLICATED, and now we're learning how weather works like magic songs and you have to put them TOGETHER to understand changing the weather with magic. I took lots of notes because it was so interesting!
After singing class, I wanted to go ice skating some more, but I couldn't because we had to help Clover PACK. The people in the apartment that she wants to live in decided they really are going to move to a bigger apartment around by the AMUSEMENT PARK, so Clover and Oona and Rafe need to have all their stuff packed up and ready to move in when those people move out. That's going to be NEXT WEEK!
Maybe it's nice to have your OWN place to live and not have to live on somebody's shelves, but I'm going to miss having Clover here all the time. I talked to Rose-auncle, and she has complicated feelings too. She feels really PROUD of Clover to be grown-up enough to live on her own without parents and auncles, but she'll really MISS her too. I think maybe Rose-auncle is going to want to visit at Clover's new apartment a LOT. It's only across the street from Hebichi's house, so it's not hard to visit.
Someday I'm going to live in my own place, but I hope it's next to my parents and all my siblings and everybody, like Number-dad with our house and Nessie-auncle with the Cousin House. Maybe we can all live in the Dreamlands by Shoe-auncle. I think that would be really NICE.
Hebichi and I started SKATEBOARDING class today and it was really fun. We had to be INSIDE because skateboarding in the snow is too hard for beginners. I felt bad about having to wear PADS, but Sahara and Simoun's friend Ouma was there, and she's not an ultra-modern person either, so we were Pads Friends. Ilona-teacher made everybody wear a helmet, though. The ultra-modern kids said they didn't need to, but Ilona-teacher made them do it ANYWAY.
The first lesson was taking CARE of our skateboards, but modern boards are easy to take care of, so then we practiced riding on a smooth floor. Some kids fell off, but I didn't because I have a low CENTER OF GRAVITY. Good job, Samuel!
Last night I had a nice dream about being a standing-up person in a park and I saw Koo again. Nico wasn't there, but Rei and Cara were, and Koo thought they were really COOL, especially Rei's tail and Cara's mom-chest. We played frisbee for a while, until the frisbee hit a tree branch and the MICRORAPTORS yelled at us for bothering their nest. They had a FUZZY baby and I think it was Miggie! Then little Tansy-gram and little Edward-gram and little Rose-auncle brought little Tiny Squeak out for some sun, and everybody had to talk about how cute she was. Koo didn't fall over from cats TALKING this time, but she wanted to know if EVERY kitty I know can talk and if any talking kitties would like to live with her. We said we would ASK AROUND, because there are lots of kitties in the Dreamlands who can talk, and maybe some would like to come out to the edges and get taken care of.
Koo still doesn't know that I'm really a songcat. I feel bad that she thinks I'm just a human, but it's never the RIGHT TIME to tell her. I'm proud that I'm good at STANDING UP. Feelings are complicated!
It's been a good week, even though I'm sad about Clover moving out. We did another magic dreaming CLASS and this time it was mostly teenagers from Clover's lessons but also their families and all kinds of people. This time Number-dad and Rose-auncle LED everybody and my siblings and cousins and I went behind everybody to chase them in the right direction when they tried to get DISTRACTED. It worked really well and we got everybody into the Dreamlands with only 2 lost people that Clover-auncle had to find. Good job, everybody! We had ice cream at Basking Shark 311 flavors to celebrate, and all the new magic dreamers got to meet Super Monkey and Bobtail Dragon and Cold-Mouth Dragon. Super Monkey was a little bit WORRIED because he doesn't think everybody from Starfall can be nice, but we ARE.
Clover went to see if the people moving out of her new apartment need any HELP, and we went with her to see the apartment, but it's still full of people who are packing up all their stuff into boxes for robots to carry away. They seem like a nice family, but they're all busy with their own friends helping so they didn't need any more help. They were really nice to Clover, though!
It's still really SNOWY in the Awake World, but it's clear and sunny in Dragon-mayor's city. That's DANGEROUS, because the snow melts a little bit during the day and then freezes into slippery ICE at night. There have been a lot of car crashes from people not driving carefully enough, and Shiny Horns Dragon slipped and sprained his WRIST and now he's really CROSS because it's hard to make STATUES with only 1 hand. Shiny Horns is Dragon 102. He's one of the ones that come with the #37 dragons in November. He didn't need a dragon clinic then, but now it's a good thing he's in the city with Shoe-auncle!
Because it's not so windy now, Rei and Nico put a TENT in the treehouse and we did some sleepovers when we weren't doing MAGIC DREAMING CLASS. It was really nice to cuddle with Humboldt and Dmitri and have a 3 BROTHER SLUMBER PARTY, but it was nice to cuddle with Faun and Pixie and Rei and Nico too. I like camping when it's easy to come in to get snacks!
Another good thing that happened is there are EFFIGIAS at my zoo. They aren't really dinos, they're SUCHIANS. That means they're cousins of CROCODILES, even though they walk on 2 feet and eat plants. There used to be a lot more suchians, but now we only have crocodiles and alligators and a few more like that left. They're almost EXTINCT, but maybe they can EXPAND again if they get a few million years. The Effigias don't talk, but maybe they listen, like Wembley. There are 15 of them and they like eating eggplants and pumpkins and spinch. They aren't fluffy and maybe not everybody thinks they're cute, but they like eating from people's HANDS so maybe they can go in the petting zoo.
Pixie went to look at the effies and said they're OK, not weird and yucky like croccers. I still don't know why she doesn't like the crocodiles! Max likes the effies too, and says we should move them to the petting zoo so they can be PIGGIE FRIENDS. Maybe we'll try that once they SETTLE IN and make friends with the capybaras.
Wembley isn't friends with capybaras. She's too big and has too many teeth, and eats WATER ANIMALS. That makes me a little sad, but it's just how spinos are. I read that the Awake World used to have some rodents that were as big as Number-dad and Shoe-auncle and Clover-auncle PUT TOGETHER. They were called giant PACARANAS, because their closest cousin is pararanas, who are about as big as Flim-Flam or Flip-Flop, but they looked a lot like giant CAPYBARAS. Maybe I can find some in the Dreamlands to be friends with the bigger animals. That would make me really happy!
It's been another really GOOD week. I think only 2 bad things happened, and one of them wasn't ALL bad. That was Clover moving into her new apartment. I already miss her, but I think she's HAPPY there. The people who live on each side were really happy to see PRETTY people move in and brought Clover and Oona and Rafe lots of COOKIES and lots of FLIRTS. Maybe it's a good apartment for TEENAGERS.
The other bad thing is that I STEPPED on Tiny Squeak! It was an accident when somebody yelled at me when I was walking across them, but I felt really BAD because Tiny Squeak cried and cried. I cried a little bit too, because I LOVE Tiny Squeak and never want to hurt her. VV-gram washed Mlle. Squeak's leg until she stopped crying, and didn't have to take her to the PEDIATRICIAN, but it was still a BIG MISTAKE for me. You have to be more careful around babies, Samuel!
All my classes are doing really GOOD. We're still learning the right way to go straight and stop and turn in skateboarding class, but I know you have to learn the BASICS before you can learn fancy techniques. Art class is good too. I got Hebichi and Max to come model for everybody, because they have COOL bodies that you don't see every day. Someday I want to get mermaids and octos and mastydons and mooses to model for us!
Hebichi and Spin and Blond Dmitry and Morning came to have a sleepover in our treehouse tent, and we pretended it was a ZEPPELIN exploring to find GIANT CAPYBARAS. Then we went to sleep and dreamed about flying a zeppelin all over to look for new animals for my ZOO. It was pretty hard because we had to worry about lift and ballast and WIND, and animals hide from big flying things, but we saw some animals in a river and found a good ISLAND to land on. We didn't find any giant capybaras, but Cattail and Maz and Jackie splashed in the water and chased FISH and ate water plants and had FUN. The rest of us looked for animals until some DUCKBILL DINOS came to eat Jackie. That was too exciting because they really like eating pumpkins! We got them to stop by giving them some SPINCH and talking to them really NICE. Morning is good at talking to dinos! She got them to eat spinch from her hand, and then they were our friends, because we didn't try to eat them, so they had their CALVES come over to get the free spinch. They had funny things on the backs of their heads, so Blond Dmitry said we should call them Hatosaurs, but I think really they're OLOROTITANS. That means SWAN GIANTS, because they have longer necks than most duck-billed dinos. They're a kind of LAMBEOSAURINE.
When all 5 of the olorotitans were our friends, we asked if they wanted to come live in a zoo, where they would always have clean water and lots of food, but people would look at them and they couldn't go too far. They thought about it and then they all got on our zeppelin! We were really HAPPY to have new dino friends!
We had to throw out all our ballast, and put some more hydrogen in the zeppelin, because olorotitans are HUGE. We think the grownups are 3 tonnes, that's almost as heavy as ELEPHANTS. But our zeppelin was really STRONG and we could fly away with everybody. Good work, animal finders!
Tater made faces at me when I brought MORE big dinos for him to take care of, but I said maybe he could get some more HELPERS and then he was happy again. I think he likes the olos even when he's grouchy. They're brown like him and pink like flowers and have funny heads.
We did some more snowmobiling and dancing spider glyph lessons in the big valley past the giant turkeys. It was really fun riding snowmobiles, even when we FELL OVER, and it was really interesting learning to read more books about stars and planets and some books about DINOS. We used a dancing spider glyph book to figure out the new dinos were olorotitans. I didn't know spiders were interested in dinos. I'm going to write some letters to Jaunty Jonquil Spider and Lurking Lemon Spider and everybody to let them know about the dinos they can see if they come visit my zoo.
My family wrote some letters to the Bear-grams, who are getting closer and closer to Mars. They're doing really GOOD and are ready to be MARTIANS. We talked to the pengies and mooses in Northern Shores on the phone. They're doing really GOOD too, even though it's really COLD. The spidies are mostly sleeping in the warm maze, but sometimes they put on coats and come out to play.
Max and I visited Isaac Mewton on the Space Train, which is getting closer and closer to Mars too. It's going to visit an ASTEROID in March, and then get to Mars in JULY. The Bear-grams will already be there, but maybe they can dream about us.
We gave Isaac some late birthday presents and a masquillion hugs and played RAINBOW CHASING and looked at stars with a telescope and cuddled up together when we got tired and our eyes got sore. It was really NICE.
Now I'm going to sleep, and then wake up and have ANOTHER good week!
HAPPY BIRTHDAY NUMBER-DAD!
We didn't have a big party in the Awake World, but there was cake in the afternoon, and then grownups went to see a PLAY. Somehow it was a really long and boring play, and a scary play with lots of MURDERS, so kids didn't go. Rei didn't go, so her and Cara BABYSAT us. Humboldt was a little cross because he thinks he could do it, and maybe he's right, but there are a lot of kittens in our family! We were nice to Rei and Cara and only made a LITTLE mess when Annabelle's ice cream sundae blew up.
I'm writing this tomorrow, after we had a big Dreamlands party for Number-dad. His brother Shoe-auncle was there, and all the dragons and lots of people he knows and people who like parties and Octavio-auncle and Esmerelda-auncle and Wiggle-Whiskers-auncle and all their kids and Bruno-auncle and Beezer-auncle and Super Monkey and so many friends! It was a really great party and Inverted Obverse played and we all DANCED. It made me REALLY happy to see how many people love Number-dad!
I'm going to write about the week now even though it's only Saturday. It was another good week. It's cold and snowy but not too cold to camp out in the treehouse or in a HUGE pile of blankets on the porch swing. The huge pile of blankets was really fun and Hebichi and Morning kept me WARM. We pretended we were like the spidies hiding in the warm maze and then we dreamed about visiting them and it was really great. We got a masquillion SPIDER-HUGS. That's like 4 masquillion regular hugs! I told them about the new dinos in my zoo, and they said they would come in the SPRING when it's warm enough to travel.
Morning used to have long hair but she got it really SHORT. Everybody says she's even CUTER now, but she was always cute. She has really cool patterns on her arms and legs, like overlapping pentagons but mostly just the EDGES. It reminds me of leaves in AUTUMN. She's soft and good for hugging, but if you play basketball with her, you'll get CRUSHED. Maybe she's like Cara.
Clover and Oona and Rafe had their APARTMENT-WARMING party. It was a teenager party, with lots of their friends from classes, but their FAMILIES were there too. I think Zora wanted to see if their neighbors are pretty girls for kissing, but everybody ELSE wanted to be happy for them and eat their pizza. It's a really nice apartment!
Some new dinos came to live at my zoo. We didn't have to go out and find them, they flew in at night all by themselves to eat fish from Wembley's pond while she was asleep. They're RHAMPHORHYNCHUSES, which is a kind of pterosaur that's cousins to PTERODACTYLS. They're big like eagles, and they have long skinny tails with cool diamond-shaped fins at the end. They're NOCTURNAL and eat FISH and hide during the day. We built them some boxes to sit in way up high where Wembley can't bother them, so I hope they'll stay. They eat little fish, not big fish like Wembley does, so they should be able to be DINO FRIENDS.
I thought Mlle. Squeaks was about to learn to crawl, but she hasn't yet. Nessie-auncle said that pretty often babies will look like they're ABOUT to get a new technique, but then it will take a long time until they do. Sometimes they even seem like they're forgetting techniques they already knew, but that's because they're forgetting all the WRONG ways to do it. You'll get there, Tiny Squeak!
I'm getting better at making my skateboard JUMP. I can zoom across the room and jump onto the platform and twirl to a stop and zoom the other way without falling off! Lots of times.
Maybe more will happen today and Sunday and I can write about it then. Now I have to go find my Number-dad and eat his EARS.
I was right about more stuff happening, even if it wasn't REALLY exciting. Max had a CRISIS OF CONSCIENCE when she found out cat beans are so soft and squishy because they're for SNEAKY HUNTING. She worried and worried that when she did her beans thing to say nihao, she was scaring animals by showing them she's a hunter. It made her really sad to think that she was scaring her friends. Finally Dragon-mom helped her understand that she was showing she WASN'T hunting when she did beans and then she felt a lot better. Max is a really nice kitten and wants to be friends with lots of animals! But she still hunts, especially animals that are tiny and blue. Number-dad and Fairy-mom are like that too.
Today we saw SLEDDING in a show and everybody remembered we want to do that, so we made some sleds and went to the park with the big HILL. Everybody else had the same idea, so the park was full of kids and sleds and TOBOGGANS all sliding down the hill. We got yelled at for going up the hill and messing up the snow and Annabelle cried, but then we went up the STAIRS and let Annabelle sled first and she stopped crying. It was really FUN. Some people had big donut-shaped balloons to sled on. Those are called INNER TUBES, because people used to use the insides of inflatable tires for that, but now we just make them. Lilja-auncle liked the inner tubes best, because they're round and that means they can SPIN while they go down the hill. She liked having somebody sit in the inner tube and then she sat in their lap and pushed so they'd spin really fast and ZOOM down the hill and way across the park. I tried that and it was really EXCITING and Morning shrieked really HAPPY. I got really DIZZY and fell over on the snow and waved my paws really funny.
Even though everybody kept their feet on the stairs and only SLID on the hill, the snow still got messed up after a while and everybody ran home to get warm juice. We'll have to go again after there's more snow, because that was REALLY fun!
I read that today is the Feast Day of ST BENJAMIN. Being a saint is a really big deal for people who go to church, but usually only HUMANS got to be saints. Benjamin was a cat who made the POPE, that's a really important church person with a BIG HAT, stop giving an important talk to a lot of people and pet him. Now he's the saint of TOMCATS. Dragon-mom said that's probably made up and church people don't really think that cat was a saint, but I think even church people can know cats are THE BEST. Dmitri and Humboldt and Number-dad all agreed that it's a really FUNNY story even if it's not true.
This week was more up and down.
When I got home from classes, Max was sitting on the high bed with CATTAIL, telling him "Cattail Max FRIEND. Max beans hunt Cattail? NO! Max love Cattail! Samuel big BIG love Cattail!" Then she booped his trunk with her beans. In the Awake World, Cattail is only PLUSH, so he didn't say anything, but later in the Dreamlands he found Max and booped his trunk on her beans himself, so I think they're GOOD FRIENDS now. Everybody loves Cattail because he's a really NICE mastydon! He likes going around the zoo and booping all the dino and capybara SNOOTS, and other snoots if he can reach them. You're the best, Cattail!
Another day when Morning and I went to Hebichi's house to play with them, Toka thought Morning was really PRETTY and said she should be their SWEETHEART. Even though it's PRETEND because Toka is a little kid, it made me feel weird, and I said something dumb about how I thought I was Toka's sweetheart. Then I got really EMBARRASSED and snuck behind the couch, but nobody left me alone to get better. Toka climbed right over the couch and FELL on me and said people who are REALLY cool can have LOTS of sweethearts, and Hebichi snuck behind me to catch my tail and Morning snuck around the other end of the couch and I was TRAPPED. That made me feel really bad even though everybody was being nice to me. Feelings make everything HARDER. But being happy is a feeling, so I don't want to not have any feelings. I want my feelings to BEHAVE.
Hebichi's Daddy and Poppy RESCUED me and petted me until I felt better. Nobody was mad, because everybody understands about BIG FEELINGS that make you hide, but I felt really dumb and like I wasn't a good friend.
We got lots and lots of snow. It's really pretty and good for sledding and making FORTS, but it gets in the way of going places. When it's coming down, it looks really COOL, so I want to sit and watch it instead of doing my chores and homework. Dmitri says we're cats, so sitting and watching is OK, but Zeb-teacher says we still have to do homework because we're STUDENTS.
There's lots of snow in the Dreamlands too. I'm worried about Sky Kitten and her family, but they're SONGCATS. They're smart so they'll be OK. They have good friends too.
I camped out in the treehouse tent with NUMBER-DAD. We didn't fill up the whole tent even though Number-dad is HUGE, so Humboldt came too, and then Zeb-auncle and Momo-auncle and Bob-auncle snuck in. I was worried because small animals aren't strong against cold, but they snuggled in our fur and got really COZY so it was OK. We talked a lot about FEELINGS and why they're so messy. Even grownups have messy feelings, but kids and teenagers have a harder time because the parts of their brain that aren't feelings are still LITTLE. That makes me cross because I want to have a POWERFUL brain, not a little kid brain! I have lots of grownups and a nice big brother to help my brain grow, though. I had a masquillion cuddles, too. Number-dad is REALLY warm.
Another day, our whole family did a SNOW HIKE. Even Mlle. Squeaks got wrapped up REALLY warm and carried in a SLING. A bunch of the Pocket Foxies came with us, but they didn't hike. They drove a LANDCRAWLER. That's like a little tractor with treads, but instead of a seat for a big person, it has a CABIN for a bunch of really little people. It doesn't trundle as fast as a running cat, but it can keep up if we WALK. Momo said maybe it can FLY, but the other foxies said that feature isn't finished yet, so we didn't make them try. We drove to the bottom of a mountain and walked to the top of it and looked at the BEAUTIFUL VIEW. It was really great to see all the snowy mountains and their trees and some frozen lakes and rivers and SPIRAL clouds. Nobody wanted to stop looking, so we had a picnic up there, and sang the Beautiful Mountain Sky Song. We talked about building a snow cave and camping overnight, but too many people had to be at school in the morning, so we slid back down the mountain and went home. The foxies' landcrawler almost slid over a CLIFF and that would have been really BAD, but Big Sam caught it and Nessie-auncle helped pull it back up. Everybody was OK!
The rhamphies are doing really GOOD in the zoo. We made some nest boxes with clear sides so people can SEE them when they're sleeping during the day, and they come out at sunset when the oloros are going to sleep and fly around. I tried throwing some pieces of fish into the air and the rhamphies SWOOPED to catch them, but I think we have to be careful doing that, so I don't know if I want to put out pieces of fish for visitors to throw.
We tried to learn more Dancing Spider Glyphs, but when we snowmobiled to the hill, it was GONE. An avalanche from the mountains covered it in snow! We tried digging, but there's TOO MUCH SNOW. We have to wait until SPRING when the snow melts, and see if the standing stones got knocked over. If they did, we have to learn the right magic for when we put them back up, because it's NO GOOD to leave the circle wrecked. But circles are the best place to learn Dancing Spider Glyphs, so class is ON HOLD until then. We snowmobiled all over the valley instead! The giant turkeys didn't bother us because old-fashioned snowmobiles are LOUD, but they made really CROSS noises. We didn't bother them very much, because that's mean.
Spin's hair is getting really LONG so he put a fancy clip on the end of his braid, but it wiggled too much and I had to POUNCE when he leaned over the back of the couch. All his squacks came out and it was really cute. I like Spin lots.
I cooked PIZZA for dinner on my night. There are lots of us, but we don't eat as much pizza now that Clover has her OWN dinners. That made me a little bit SAD, but Dragon-mom said we could take the leftovers over to Clover and her FLATMATES. They were really happy to get HOMEMADE pizza with bacon and pineapples and spicy peppers. I think Clover misses us, and Rafe and Oona miss their families too.
Maybe next week I'll get more DINOS in my zoo, and have neater feelings.
