Max was reading a manga and then Number-dad came and flopped down on her so her oofs came out. She said, "Daddy-mom BIG BIG" so he started to get up and not squish her, but she grabbed his arm. "COZY!" He flopped back down on his Max-pillow and they purred really NICE together. Stuff like that happens ALL THE TIME in our house, because our family is made of LOVE and CUDDLES, but this made me REALLY happy, so I wrote it down. Now I have to run to Magic Singing class.
Magic Singing class was really good. Simone showed us how to sing going UP and DOWN at the same time, and Sahara is really good at it but we all learned. Only Tiny Squeak didn't learn, because she can only do one squeak at a time. Keep practicing, Mlle. Squeaks!
I wanted to write about last night's dream because it made me happy too. It was really SUNNY in the big park so all the snow was gone, and Jean and my Dmitri and Blond Dmitry were all sitting on the steps absorbing the sunshine and looking really COOL with sunglasses. I think they learned by watching NICO, 'cause he's REALLY cool. Then a bunch of kids who were playing soccer went over to ask them to play too because they were so cool! You guys are the best! I think everybody should want to be friends with Dmitri and Jean and Dmitry.
Tiny Squeak is doing really GOOD. She's GROWING UP A STORM, and now she doesn't always cry when she gets her mouth on something and it doesn't give her milk. I think she's going to be really BITEY like the twins. Maybe girl songcats are like that a lot. Rose-auncle says Clover was like that.
We went snowmobiling in the cryptotheria's SUMMER valley more this week, since we couldn't learn Dancing Spider Glyphs. Cally-auncle and Pounce-auncle set up courses and we did RACES. Sometimes we fell off but it was OK because there's SO MUCH snow. Even Max and Annabelle and Toka got to try it. They aren't very good, but they like zooming fast.
Everything was OK until we tried a new course and a big GIANT TURKEY jumped out at Spin. It was really scary! Spin slid down the hill and fell off, but Maz jumped right off and grabbed that turkey by the neck and kicked it until it DIED. Then she did a DINO DANCE around it and yelled, because she was SPIN'S HERO. Sonny and Maz don't ALWAYS get along, but Sonny thought Maz was really GREAT that night.
I felt a little bad for the turkey, because it couldn't really hurt Spin because he's really TOUGH, but you better not mess with Maz's friends!
We sniffed the turkey to make sure it wasn't acting weird because of being SICK, but it smelled OK so Maz got the first bites, because she was really BRAVE to fight a giant turkey bigger than her for Spin, and then we took it to the Wombat Tunnel and plucked it and made a big fire and ROASTED it. Cattail shared his yams with us, so we roasted those too, and put on some salt and pepper that Pixie had, and had a BBQ PICNIC. We even had enough to share with Nessie-auncle and Big Sam when they came motorcycling from the WINTER valley to see what was going on. It was a good camping picnic even though there was too much TURKEY ATTACK.
Another night when I was at my zoo checking on all the animals and booping CAPYBARA SNOOTS, Cattail came to find me and he had TOKA riding on him. Toka looks a LOT like a kitty in the Dreamlands. I said Cattail doesn't have to carry Toka around, but he patted Toka's leg with his trunk, so it was OK. I'm GLAD they're friends, I just don't want anybody to pick on Cattail because he's a really YOUNG mastydon. That was a good zoo visit because when we got to the petting zoo, VV-GRAM and MLLE. SQUEAKS were there! All the sheepies and bunnies and Zsuzsies LOVED Tiny Squeak. It was REALLY cute, especially when Cow Bunny and Violet Bunny sat on Tiny Squeak and gave her little bunny-kneads. VV-gram was really PROUD that everybody loves her kitten. You're the best, Tiny Squeak!
Toka doesn't come to my zoo much because they're always playing with Theo and Cleo and Mlle. Floofypaws and the Mushrooms and Pierce, and those cats are too ROWDY for the zoo, but when Toka is here they're really cute. They go around hugging all the capybaras and yelling things like "Wembley! You're HUGE! And you have special SUSHI TEETH! I love you!" and blowing kisses to the animals. They're a really good kid!
We had a WHOLE BUNCH of roasted squash, so Sahara and Annabelle and I took a box of it over to Clover's apartment. Clover and Rafe weren't home, but Oona was, so we gave her the squash and HUGS. Then there was another visitor, and it was Rafe's mom with CHOCO CAKE. Oona said it was a really good night for FREE FOOD. Then there was ANOTHER visitor and it was Hebichi and Toka and their Daddy with leftover SALMON PIE. We all laughed and laughed, but I said, "This isn't organized AT ALL. Fairy-mom isn't proud of us." Oona said she didn't care and ate a little bit of everything and said it was DELICIOUS, so none of us felt bad.
I was WRONG. When we went home and told Fairy-mom what happened, she was REALLY proud of us for sharing food with our auncle. She said it's always OK to share food with teenagers, because they have BOTTOMLESS STOMACHES. Humboldt said he should get more ice cream for his bottomless teenager stomach, but it didn't work. Then he brooded, that's when a teenager sits by themself and thinks about how nobody loves them enough and they can't do anything and everything is terrible, but that didn't work EITHER. He had to come watch DYSON SPHERE CUTIES with us and get hugs for his outsides and extra squash for his bottomless stomach.
That night I dreamed I was in a huge maze of BLANKET CAVES. It was a little bit scary because I didn't know where I was, but I could smell my tail-sister SKY KITTEN and I had a big basket of FOOD to take to her. I had to do my best! It was really warm and dark in the blanket caves, but I LISTENED for miaus and used my WHISKERS to find my way through tunnels, and I sang the Everybody Loves Sky Kitten Song. I felt like I was getting closer until the blanket cave COLLAPSED and all my oofs came out! I didn't know how that happened because blankets are SOFT until I heard GIGGLING. I ran really fast to the edge of that blanket and jumped on top and ran back and POUNCED on Max and Secret so they SHRIEKED. That's what happens when you fall on me while I'm trying to HELP somebody!
Max and Secret had baskets too, so we all went to find Sky Kitten together. She was in the VERY CENTER of the blanket maze, making a pretend boat out of sticks. It wasn't a really good boat, because she's only 2, but she was having fun. Because we're CATS, we put down our baskets and snuck up on her and POUNCED. Sky Kitten SHRIEKED and jumped down the hole that lead to where she was asleep, but then she heard us laughing and climbed back up to TUSSLE us. She was really happy to see us again, and she liked saying nihao to Secret, because Secret is a new person who isn't a cat. We helped her build her boat and then we played kittens. I had to be the mommy because I'm biggest, which is BACKWARDS from how Max does it, so they thought that was REALLY funny. I have a lot of funny sisters!
When it was time for Sky Kitten to wake up, we helped her get all the baskets of food down into her cave. It was STORE-BOUGHT gift baskets, but there was fancy cheese and fancy sausage and fancy jam and honey from real bees and all kinds of yummy stuff, so it's good for when your body is COLD and needs lots of ENERGY. It was 3 big baskets, too, so I hope it really helps all the cats there. Good luck with winter, Sky Kitten!
This was a good week for dreams, even if we only went to the EDGE of the Dreamlands to see Sky Kitten. Maybe sometime I can take Koo to visit Sky Kitten. I think they would like that.
It was a good week for giving people food too.
Today I found out Toka likes going to Clover's apartment and showing her pictures of kitties doing silly things. That's a risk you take when you move closer to somebody who REALLY likes kitties!
When we had to run to school in the cold weather, Max squacked a lot because she didn't have a SCARF. She went to visit Sky Kitten in the blanket caves and gave her her favorite scarf because Sky Kitten didn't have any and it was RAINBOW-colored. That was really nice of Max, but now her NECK is cold.
Dragon-mom made a new rainbow scarf for Max, but this one has stripes going the LONG way, like a real rainbow. Max likes it a LOT and ran around showing it to everybody. "Max NEW SCARF! Dragon-mom made! Max BEAUTIFUL WARM!".
Clover-auncle has a new place to live, and Rose-auncle is busy doing Dreamlands history RESEARCH, so they don't get to see each other all the time. That made them really sad, so they decided Friday will be FAMILY DAY when they do stuff together. Today they went shopping for hats and had fancy Germany lunch and then got pulled into helping a bunch of people build huge SNOW FORTS so they could have a SNOWBALL FIGHT. When they came to the Gram House to eat CHILI BEAN STEW with all of us, they were COVERED in snow. Annabelle yelled, "Oh NO it's SNOW MONSTERS!" and there was a snowy tussle and Flower-gram got mad that snow was all over her couch. We we were all really sorry! After dinner we played some games and Clover-auncle and Rose-auncle showed us pictures of the snow fort they built and I fell asleep on Big Sam's lap until Simoun woke me up to eat CHEESECAKE. It was a really good family day.
Annabelle wanted Fairy-mom to do a family day like that with her, but our parents have LOTS of kittens and see all of us every day, so we don't need that and it would be HARD. Annabelle was sad, but she understood, because she's ALMOST 8 now.
Tiny Squeak is still a really GREAT little auncle. She went to the PEDIATRICIAN this week, that's a doctor for KIDS, and they said Tiny Squeak is REALLY healthy and probably she's doing everything a songkitten should do when she's 5 months old. They don't know for sure, though, because there aren't any other BABY songkittens in Starfall. Even Max was a couple of YEARS old when she came to live with us. I think that makes VV-gram worry a LITTLE bit. I know she's being a really GOOD mum to Mlle. Squeaks, though.
This was a really COLD week in both the Awake World and the Dreamlands. In the Awake World it got cold and CLEAR again for a few days, and then there was more SNOW. We did more sledding and built some snow forts in our own park and made a huge pile of snow to jump into from the treehouse and went skating a lot. Bina's family and Morning's family and the Pocket Foxies went to the mountains to do SKIING. The Pocket Foxies had a Skiing Mecha, which looks funny but goes down mountains REALLY FAST.
In the Dreamlands, there was a real BLIZZARD. It got really cold and the wind was HOWLING and there was snow EVERYWHERE. It was really SCARY. We had to close the zoo because it was too cold for the animals to be out, and the trains stopped so nobody could come. All the zoo people, even the ones who usually work in the OFFICE, went around to all the animals and made sure their houses were WARM. Even the little feathery dinos that went wherever they wanted had to have houses, so we got a bunch of old barrels and put blankets in them for nests and HEATERS to warm them up. I know a lot of them have moved away from the zoo, but if they don't come back, we can't do anything to help them. We don't have enough people to make warm nests for the WHOLE AREA. The wild animals and feral animals are ON THEIR OWN. I think they'll be OK, because it gets cold every year even if it's not a REAL blizzard, but maybe they won't be. If they all die, then animals from places that didn't get so cold will move in. It's hard being a wild animal. I think it's even harder being a FERAL animal because that means animals that used to be domesticated but are wild now. Feral animals might remember having warm houses so the cold seems worse. That makes me feel bad to think about.
I told all the animals that come to work at the zoo, like the sheepies from Tansy's sheep place, not to come to work until we opened again, but Posey and Parker and Sequeira and some of their friends came anyway to help keep the BUNNIES and CHINCHILLYS warm. They had thick wool blankets and lots of veggies and some books to read, so they were ready to stay with their SMALL FRIENDS. They're really good sheeps, and I was GLAD they could stay, because Zsuzsy is stuck at home and the bunnies and chinchillys need somebody.
I had to be REALLY SORRY to Wembley for bringing her someplace that has blizzards instead of being WARM all the time, but she likes the house we made her that's just the right shape for a sleeping spino. Spinos don't bend very much, so we could do that. You can't do that for cats!
Cattail is a mastodon, so he's really TOUGH against cold and he was a big help. He worked with Tater to get the last heaters set up even though snow was starting to REALLY come down. It was snowing up a storm!
I worried a lot about the animals and people and everything, but when I got all my LAYERS and got a coat for Cattail and we went all around to check on everybody, they were all OK. Even the crocydiles were OK, because they can stick their noses up to breathe and then the rest of them hibernates under the ICE. Good job hibernating, crocydiles!
By last night, the blizzard was mostly over. Everything is covered in 2 METERS of snow. We have a lot of SHOVELING to do before the zoo can open again!
I'm worried about Sky Kitten. I was so busy with the zoo every time I dreamed that I couldn't get to the blanket caves to visit her. Max and Annabelle never ended up there either. Everybody says her family has lived in those mountains for a long time so they know what to do in the winter, but I'm still worried. Lots of WILD kittens don't live long enough to grow up. Please be safe, Sky Kitten!
We had a big sleepover party at our house with lots of kids. That night I didn't dream about the zoo, I dreamed about going to the MALL with everybody else. It wasn't very crowded because people stayed home instead of going out in the SNOW, so it was nice to walk around and look at different stores and help the sheepies try on HATS. Morning bought a pretty dress, but then Hebichi and Gobi teased her that the skirt was so short it was a FLIRTING dress and they had a fight. That made me really SAD. You don't have to fight, everybody! Let's sing the We're All Friends Song!
When we woke up, everybody was still mad, but they felt better after eating a lot of WAFFLES and didn't frown so much.
Clover and Rose did another family day. They went to a science talk about GEOLOGY and had Ethiopia sandwiches for lunch and saw a movie about people in really old-fashioned times with REALLY FANCY clothes and a lot of snogging. They didn't have any fights, even though Clover is a TEENAGER. I'm glad they get along. I hope I always get along with my parents!
It's Valentine Day! I gave heart cards with KISSES inside to all the people I love, which is a WHOLE BUNCH. Lots of people gave cards to me too! I got kisses and candy and jokes and LOVE. I think Morning got a lot of cards because she wore the dress she got from the Dreamlands and looked REALLY PRETTY.
In the evening we had a VALENTINE PARTY. We made the neighborhood center all fancy with hearts and ribbons, but no mistletoe. Gobi and I tried to figure out why Solstice has mistletoe and Valentine Day doesn't. I think it's because Solstice is the OLDER holiday and got to pick first. She thinks it's because Valentine Day is already about kissing and people don't need to be reminded. Maybe we're both right. Maybe we're both FUNNY.
Like last year, Spin and Jeanne and Blond Dmitry came to our party and danced for a while and then we went to their party to dance. This year, we only danced at their party for a little while, and then we all went to ANOTHER party in a different neighborhood and it was different than our parties. They had rowdier music, and sometimes the DJ yelled a color and everybody had to KISS somebody wearing that color. I didn't think my tail counted, but I was WRONG. I got kissed by lots of people! Some of them were kids like me, but some of them were teenagers and some of them were GROWNUPS. They were all pretty and nice, because they're modern people or ultra-modern people, so I was happy. I kissed people too. I kissed Spin because he has RAINBOW hair, but I kissed Hebichi and Cara and Jeanne and Blond Dmitry and Gobi and Morning because I love them, and I kissed people I don't know because it was fun. Everybody likes cat kisses!
I stayed up too late but it was really FUN. When I got home, I fell right over ASLEEP so I'm writing this tomorrow. I didn't listen to anybody teasing me about kisses either!
In the Dreamlands, all the Valentine parties were POSTPONED because of the snow.
I thought when the blizzard was over, we could shovel all the snow out and open the zoo again, but I was WRONG AGAIN. 2 meters is TOO MUCH SNOW. We shoveled paths to get to all the animals to feed them and take care of them, but then we had to wait for help. Most people were busy cleaning up the city, but Elephant Cat and Cold-Mouth Dragon and Bobtail Dragon came with HUGE shovels, and then Mona-gram and Bastien-gram came with SNOWPLOWS. We shoveled all the snow out of the small habitats into the paths, and then plowed the big habitats and the paths to push all the snow onto the river. It was so much it broke the ICE and fell into the water and melted! Shoe-auncle and Tansy-gram and Edward-gram showed up with warm juice and toasty bagels every day, but now the food court is cleared out so we can make our OWN snacks. We're almost done!
After dinner we went over to the Gram House to watch a show about DINOS. I helped give Tiny Squeak a BATH while we watched, and when she was clean, we wrapped her up in a warm fuzzy towel and I got to curl up around her. The show had too many ROCKS and not enough DINOS, which was OK but I was sleepy from staying up too late at the Valentine party, so I fell asleep. I had a really NICE dream with Tiny Squeak! We rolled back and forth on something warm and fuzzy, and when we rolled too far, we bumped into something big and soft. I think that was Flower-gram. We rolled the other way a lot, and then long wiggly things picked us up and put us back away from the EDGE. I think that was UNDERHIDER TONGUES and it made me really happy to think the underhiders take care of Tiny Squeak too! After that, we wiggled around so we could roll in a NEW direction. It wasn't an exciting dream because I know how to WALK, but it was really HAPPY to be with Mlle. Squeaks dreaming about things she's GOING to do in the Awake World.
Tiny Squeak woke up in the middle of the night and tried to get milk out of my tail, but it didn't work so she CRIED and I had to give her to her mum for NURSING. After I got Tiny Squeak for so many hours, VV-gram wanted her ALL TO HERSELF, so I ran back home and all my paws got COLD and I jumped into the hanging bed with Humboldt and my cold paws made him SQUACK. He wrapped me up in a warm quilt, because he's a nice big brother, and we slept really NICE.
We got the zoo all UNCOVERED and the trains are running again, so we're OPEN. A lot of people from Starfall who know magic dreaming but only to get to the city came to visit, and booped the copybara snoots and said how good everybody was at taking care of the animals. I was really PROUD of my zoo people!
When I told people about cleaning up the zoo, they asked if I felt bad because the rest of my family wasn't there, but I didn't. Everybody was busy clearing the snow off something! Lots of people helped in the city, and Number-dad and Shoe-auncle helped at the docks, and like that. Even Dragon-mayor helped clear some snow, although mostly he had to ORGANIZE. Just like at my zoo, everybody worked TOGETHER to help everybody!
Simoun and Sahara went around to all the places where meerbots work and made sure they were OK. Some meerbots aren't good in the snow because they have wheels instead of legs or treads. Mostly people helped them, but some of them got COMPLETELY BURIED in snow. Simoun was really WORRIED, but the meerbots LIKED it. They thought it was really quiet and peaceful and WHITE. Maybe meerbots are a little bit weird. Simoun and Sahara put the meerbots who wanted it in the parking lot of the Meerbot Clinic and got a snowplow to cover them with snow. They could only stay there until the city was back to work, so now they're all unburied, but Simoun says they're happier. Being buried in snow is like MEDITATION for meerbots.
I'm still worried about Sky Kitten. I had a dream about the blanket caves, but I was standing up so I could only find a place to come out from under some piled-up TARPS and be behind the park where Koo plays. It's a LITTLE cold there, but the microraptors in the tree are doing good, and Koo only has to wear fancy TIGHTS under her shorts even though she's human. We sat on a bench and ate cinnamon rolls and talked about how school is fun and skateboarding is fun and Nico is really PRETTY. I think Koo has a crush on Nico. I didn't know how to explain that I'm really a CAT to tell Koo about Sky Kitten, so I just said I was worried about some of my friends in a place that has really BAD weather, and she gave me a lot of hugs and said they'll be OK. I hope she's right.
I crashed on my FACE at skateboarding class and my TEETH came out! Not all of them, but 3 on the top left. They were a LITTLE BIT loose before, but I didn't think they were going to come out for a while yet. It really hurt, and there was a lot of blood, so Ilona-teacher made me sit down for the rest of the class. My mouth stopped bleeding, but it still hurts even after Hebichi kissed my cheek and all of my family gave me purrs on my face, and it wasn't fun to eat dinner. Even ice cream made my mouth hurt, and that's really UNFAIR. Dragon-mom gave me some medicine to make it stop hurting so I can sleep, and now it's working, so I'm going to sleep with a PILLOW on my face so wiggly siblings don't CLOBBER me in the night.
This was another good week for Mlle. Squeaks! She got some baths and drank a WHOLE BUNCH of milk and took several naps every day, and when she wasn't nursing or sleeping, she wiggled and squeaked and rolled. She's getting good at rolling onto her TUMMY, but then she puts her paws down and doesn't roll onto her back. She can't get places by rolling like she did in the dream I had with her, but I know she will SOON. You can do it, Tiny Squeak!
When I was at Basking Shark 311 Flavors ice cream in the Dreamlands, 2 cats snuck in and KIDNAPPED me! It was Sahara and Simoun. They said I worried about Sky Kitten TOO MUCH, so they were going to take me in their flying boat to check on her. I said they didn't have to, but they like Sky Kitten and her family too, and they think Snake Fangs is really great for teaching them his magic biting technique. Their friends Ouma and Frillist were there too, but even after they made their boat bigger that's as many people who can fit after it's full of FOOD. That's 4 people to work the 4 ray projectors and 1 to NAVIGATE. I didn't ever get to be the navigator, because I don't fly on the boat enough. It was OK, they were all doing me a FAVOR even if the twins pretend to be grouchy about it. I got to see everything from WAY UP HIGH while I worked the ray projector, because the boat goes faster the higher up it is and the longer STEPS it can take with the rays. It was really cool to see all the places I walked through before, but it was really SCARY when a cloud giant came to see what we were doing. It was Poravant, who's a friend of The Magnificent Zalguor, and knows our family from a long time ago, so he was really friendly and we talked about flying and cloud sheepies and sunsets and stuff. Ouma and Frillist hadn't ever met a cloud giant, so they thought he was REALLY COOL. I don't think they were wrong!
Later we met some vultures who wanted us to crash and die, because they were hungry. We kept flying really SAFELY, but I got REALLY worried, because maybe the vultures were there because they smelled dead CATS. Everybody said if there were a lot of dead cats, the vultures wouldn't be hungry, but I said what if there was just 1 dead cat but it was SKY KITTEN? Sahara said Sky Kitten's family would take the best care of her, so it wouldn't be her, but I was still SCARED. We made the boat fly really fast to the valley of the 5 Grams.
When we got there, I SHRIEKED because there was a snow fort but it was all messy with BLOOD. Frillist shrieked too because they don't like blood. We flew down so fast we almost crashed and made the vultures happy, but there was a lot of snow so we just went POOF. Snake Fang and Mimble and some of the other kittens ran out, carrying pieces of a RABBIT. Everything was messy because he was trying to show them how to cut up a rabbit for COOKING, not because any cats were hurt. Then Sky Kitten ran out, chewing on a little piece of rabbit she pirated, and I was so happy I fell out of the boat and went poof again! Sky Kitten jumped on me and yelled, "Flier! AIRPLANE!".
Sahara and Simoun pretended to be really INDIGNANT while showing Flier their flying MARS BOAT. Ouma and Frillist did the New Cat Dance, that's where you run around and say nihao to all the cats you don't know, and find out how soft their fur is, and give them treats, and if they turn upside down you can find out if their tummies are TRAPS. Sky Kitten's and Mimble's tummies are traps.
All of my worrying was DUMB. Everybody was OK. The 5 Grams pish-toshed me a LOT for thinking they can't take care of everybody when there's a MEDIUM blizzard. It made me feel really bad, so I ran back to hide on the boat, but Frillist and Sky Kitten found me and gave me a lot of hugs and said it's good to take care of your tail-siblings. I wasn't sad about visiting Sky Kitten, but I didn't want to talk to the 5 Grams any more. I talked to the KITTENS because they were nice and liked tussling and snuggling. They weren't careful of my MOUTH because they're ROWDY, but it doesn't hurt as much now. I talked to Aria-auncle and the other grownup cats too, and they were glad we brought those baskets of food in Sky Kitten's dreams. The Grams said it was only a medium blizzard, but the cats had to stay inside with the IRON STOVE a lot and couldn't hunt very much. I was really happy Max and Secret and I helped!
The cats had lots of food, but it was all fresh, and the food we brought KEEPS, so it was a good excuse to have a FEAST. We cooked lots of meat and some veggies on the iron stove and sang the We're All Friends Song and the Yummy Yummy Dinner Song and the Cozy Cave Song. When we were all full, we went outside to look at the SUNSET at the end of the valley. It was really quiet and pretty, but then we heard SINGING. It was STEGOSAURUSES in the next valley, and they sang really BEAUTIFUL. 1 of the Grams told us the story of how when the stegos moved in, the cats wanted to hunt them even though they're really big, because it was a bad month and they were really HUNGRY. It didn't work, though, because SOMEBODY sang the Let's All Be Friends Song to the stegos and they sang BACK. Then the stegos were friends and the cats couldn't hunt them. I think it was Aria-auncle who sang to them the first time, because she washed her hand and said that you can't expect the Cats of Tomorrow to behave like the Cats of Yesterday. Then she said the stegos chased some antelopes into the cats' valley, so they weren't hungry any more, because friends are really GOOD. We all sang the Let's All Be Friends Song as LOUD as we could, and maybe the stegos sang with us.
Then it was dark and cold, so instead of flying home we stayed overnight. Flier made Sahara and Simoun and Frillist and Ouma tell a masquillion stories about flying in their Mars boat, and I played toy-hunting with Sky Kitten and Mimble and Tosi, and after a while we all fell asleep.
When we woke up, the twins gave everybody rides in the boat, although sometimes Aria had to pull Flier out by the SCRUFF to make room for other people. We ate leftovers and got a masquillion hugs and gave the cats a bunch of equipment from the boat, like the medicine kit and the spare firewood axe and a bunch of rope, and then we flew back to the city. I was afraid people were going to tease me about worrying too much, but only the 5 Grams did that. Everybody else was really NICE, especially the people from Starfall because we know about helping each other ALL THE TIME. It's because we live in a city.I felt a little bit weird about going to visit Sky Kitten in less than a day when it took us more than a week to get there with the Exploration Club, but the twins said the Mars boat is better for going to places you already know. I could tell it hurt their SOULS to say the Mars boat wasn't best at everything.
When I told my parents about visiting Sky Kitten, Fairy-mom said being SELF-SUFFICIENT is important to lots of wild cats, so they get mad when people say maybe they can't take care of themselves and their whole families, but that doesn't mean we shouldn't help them. We should ESPECIALLY help kittens. They all wanted to hear about the beautiful singing voices of STEGOS, and that made me really happy.
I didn't have any other BIG adventures this week. We taught another magic dreaming class, and I got to say some of the GUIDED THOUGHT exercises to help people get their brains going the right way. I was really nervous, so I REHEARSED a bunch and then when I had to do it for real, I did it all RIGHT. We got 27 people all to my zoo and had them take WARM BATHS with capybaras so they would have good thoughts about the Dreamlands and their brains would want to go back there. That's a new idea from Rose-auncle. We'll find out if it works when we give people the SURVEY later to find out how good they are at magic dreaming.
Hebichi and Gobi were really sorry to Morning, so they're friends again now. Some kids said it was because of how pretty Morning's FANCY legs looked in her new dress at the kissing party, but I think it's because they felt bad about teasing her too much.
We had some sunny days and some cloudy days, but no more snow, so the snow we have is slowly going away. It was warm enough to have more sleepovers in the treehouse tent and in piles of blankets on the porch. We did a lot of sledding and lake skating, because we're RUNNING OUT of winter. Soon it's going to be SPRING and lots of my siblings will have BIRTHDAYS.
Purpleberry Ice Cream played ice hockey against some other teams and did pretty good, but didn't win. Raptor Dance Party won, so Spin and Mazurkasaurus were really proud and gave us all purpleberry CRUMBLE that they made.
Humboldt and Dmitri and I made SHEET PAN DINNER. That's where you get all the salmon and different veggies and everything ready and then put it all on 1 flat pan in the oven to cook together. We had to use a LOT of pans because our family is so BIG and HUNGRY, but they liked it. We used spicy MAPLE sauce that we made.
Clover-auncle and Rose-auncle spent their family day doing RESEARCH because they're going to OSAKA soon. Rose-auncle is going to a conference about history, and Clover-auncle is going so they can do a vacation together. Everybody wants to go to Osaka, but we have SCHOOL and WORK. I don't think it's fair. We only go to the same 3 places for vacations every year! We're making a plan to get our parents to take us someplace NEW this year. We don't want to miss Tansy's Sheep Place for birthdays or the Penguin Palace in the summer, so we have to go in the spring or fall. We go to warm beaches in the winter, so maybe we'll try to go to a CITY. There are lots of cities that look really cool.
My face looks weird when I smile. Sometimes people tease me about it. I don't like it, but my parents say it's better to wait for my new teeth to grow in than to go to the doctor. I just have to PUT UP WITH IT until then.
Tiny Squeak learned to SIT UP and I MISSED IT!
Sahara and Simoun were helping take care of her, and when they tickled her hand-beans, she squeaked and stuck her arm out. They played that game for a while, and then they tickled both her hands at the same time and she stuck both her arms out and made a really SURPRISED squeak and wiggled a lot. They think that's when she FIGURED IT OUT, but it wasn't until later when she rolled on her tummy that she gave a BIG SQUEAK and PUSHED with her arms, and then she was kind of SITTING UP!
I felt bad because I was at the park playing with Spin and Hebichi and Jeanne when this happened, but I can't be with Mlle. Squeaks ALL the time. Everybody has a turn helping take care of her. I found out when I got home for dinner, and right after we ran over to SEE. All the people from the Cousin House were there too. I was worried she would be too tired, but when she stopped nursing and burped and squeaked, she rolled onto her tummy and did a BIG SQUEAK and a PUSH UP! Her legs were kind of squished, and she couldn't stay up for very long, but she DID IT. GOOD WORK, MLLE. SQUEAKS!
We all gave Tiny Squeak a masquillion kisses and VV-gram looked so PROUD we thought she might POP. Flower-gram said my parents were that proud when my brain got fixed and I learned to sit up. I don't remember being that little, but I hope I was as great as Tiny Squeak.
Tiny Squeak is getting a lot better at SITTING UP. We tried tickling her foot-beans to get her to push up with her feet, but she just sticks her feet out behind her, and then she can't sit up right. We tried tickling all of her paws at the same time, but that doesn't work either. It's OK, Tiny Squeak! After you learn to sit up right, you can practice other stuff!
Pierce and Nameko and Truffle try to teach Mlle. Squeak how to sit up in the Dreamlands by sitting next to her and miauing. Theo and Cleo and Mlle. Floofypaws try to teach her too, and 1 time even in the Awake World when Toka came over to Clover's to get us to visit their house. Toka's kittens are getting pretty big, but Tiny Squeak is BIGGER. It was really cute to see them all cuddling together. Everybody loves Tiny Squeak!
Maybe some people love Tiny Squeak TOO MUCH. VV-gram and Mlle. Squeaks were sitting in the GAZEBO with a bunch of other mom cats and kittens, and Willow was there to pet cats. Willow is one of Bruno and Beezer's puppies, so they're half PIRATE DOG and half FOREST SPIRIT. They used to only come visit after summer solstice and before winter solstice, but now they're grownups and can go wherever they want. Willow likes kitties a lot, so they came to pet all the mom cats and BABY cats. Tiny Squeak was practicing her PUSH UPs, and Willow watched her and said, "Nigh the season when all her paws 'neath her, and she shall grow strong on tree-milk and learn the subtle arts of our kin." But VV-gram said NO WAY. She doesn't want Tiny Squeak to go live with forest spirits, she wants her to live in the Gram House with her mum! Willow sulked, but they didn't try to steal Tiny Squeak. Really they're nice, and even if they weren't, their dads would get MAD if they did kitten stealing.
Tiny Squeak likes chewing on her plush microraptor, even in the Dreamlands, but it's still just a toy. I don't know if it's going to become a friend or not. It's OK if it doesn't. Tiny Squeak has a LOT of time to make friends!
Another night, I was sitting in the park with Dmitri and Hebichi, eating HUGE cheeseburgers and watching Spin and Blond Dmitry and Jean play soccer with the human kids. Jean came over to do a piracy on our ONION RINGS, but before he got to us, one of the human kids ran and caught him. Elinn is a really pretty girl with long blonde hair that's WAVY and HELICAL and looks fancy. Sometimes she writes her name LN. She said her school is having a VALENTINE party now that the snow is gone and she wanted Jean to go to the party TOO. Then she said she likes him better as a girl and kissed him on the cheek and ran away. I think it was because love confessions are EMBARRASSING.
Dmitri made a really WEIRD face, but he put it away before anybody noticed and gave Jean a bunch of onion rings and hugs. When Jean and Hebichi went to play again, I caught him and ate his ear and asked if he was UPSET that somebody else asked Jean on a DATE. He said he didn't know. He and Jean have been PLAYING like sweethearts, but now he has to FIGURE OUT his HEART. Dmitri is really good at putting things in order, but I don't know if that works with FEELINGS. I pushed him over so I could curl up in his lap and sing the Really Great Big Brother Song to him. I don't know if it helped very much. There are a lot of things we don't know!
When it was time for the party, Jeanne had a sleepover with lots of her friends, including me. She said Dmitri didn't HAVE to come, but he did ANYWAY. I don't know if his feelings were in order, but Jeanne is his FRIEND even when she goes on a date with somebody else. It was a nice sleepover with pizza and shows and CUDDLES. We only teased Jeanne a LITTLE bit, because we're nice! She got a pretty dress and shoes with high heels and a FASCINATOR, and we snuggled up with her in the middle and then it was DREAMING time.
Everybody except Jeanne came to the zoo to get capybara boops. I think Dmitri needed them the most, but I think lots of people had COMPLICATED feelings about Jeanne going on a DATE. We petted bunnies and let piggies sit in our laps and then we took a HOT BATH with capybaras and watched a little bit of snow come down. Dmitri got a lot of boops and didn't feel bad, so I was proud of my zoo's capybaras. They're the best!
After everybody was SOGGY, we got out and dried off and went back to the city to meet Jeanne. LN's parents made her go home right after the party, because humans need lots of sleep. We went to the all-night BAKERY and ate cinnamon rolls and played Spoons and Jeanne told us about her date and how LN is really pretty and a nice friend but she doesn't know if she wants to be SWEETHEARTS with her. We said they could just be snogging friends, because LN is 11 and that's how old Pixie was when she started having snogging friends, but then Pixie SHOWED UP and said we shouldn't tease anybody about that. It's everybody's OWN decision when to do snogs. Then Pixie CRUSHED us all at Spoons, so we had to say she was RIGHT.
Jeanne and Dmitri are still really GOOD friends, and I think that's most important. Maybe Dmitri got his feelings IN ORDER after all.
The sheepies heard about a vacation place that advertises getting to be friends with sheep when you're there, and they think that's really good idea and want to try it this summer. They need to find a place with HOUSES for people stay in, in a nice vacation place, and then some sheep will go there and be ADORABLE. They think people will pay extra for that, especially because they're magic TALKING sheep. You can do it, sheepies! Everybody will love you!
Clover-auncle and Rose-auncle went out for lunch for family day, and bought some good suitcases for travelling on an AIRPLANE instead of the packs they use for travelling by FOOT, and then after dinner they made us all come to the next-door neighborhood center and SQUARE DANCE. That's a complicated kind of dancing where you're in a circle and there's music you have to dance to but a person CALLS when you should hold hands with the person on your left and twirl, or odd-numbered people should go toward the middle, or all different things. It's hard because it's all about standing on your feet, but that means it's good practice for BALANCE. It was REALLY FUN and Humboldt and Simoun said maybe they'll stand up like Fairy-mom does to do it more. They stood up before, but then they were stuck because turning back was TOO ITCHY and they couldn't do it until somebody made Simoun mad and she did it even though it was AWFUL and then Humboldt knew he could do it too. Clover can stand up and turn back whenever she wants, so maybe it's something that works better when you get to be a TEENAGER.
Max and Annabelle danced with Secret and some other kids, and they didn't do as much fancy stuff but they liked it.
We got results from the Magic Dreaming class survey. Only a few people were able to have dream adventures on their own after 1 class, but a lot of people were able to do it after 2 classes, and everybody who took 3 classes can get to the Dreamlands if they try for 2 or 3 nights in a row. Number-dad and everybody are really GOOD teachers!
I wanted to know if our survey had PERCENTAGES, but Number-dad and Dragon-mom said it's not a RESEARCH survey, it's an IDEA survey for how we can do classes better. Fairy-mom made weird faces, but they tickled her until she stopped. I think she likes surveys with STATISTICS. That's really fancy percentages.
We asked about where in the Dreamlands people go, and lots of people go to Dragon-mayor's city to make friends with dragons and eat 311 flavors of ice cream and buy cool HATS in the mall. A lot of people go to the zoo to see DINOS. They like the capybaras and all the other animals, but they can see those in our zoo in the Awake World. Dinos are only in MY zoo! Some people go HIKING in the forest and the mountains and all over, or drive with the truck cats or fly with the zeppelin cats. Lots of people want to go SAILING when it's spring. Some people visit different places that aren't by our part of the Dreanmlands, like deep caves or islands made of CRYSTAL or cold places full of pengies and spidies and moosies. People who have pets took them to play in the Dreamlands and sometimes they were SURPRISED that the pets got bigger or wilder. Lots of teenagers and grownups went to beaches to do snogs with mermaids or koi boys instead of having fun adventures, but they can do that if they WANT to.
We asked about what in the class HELPED people, and what didn't help, and some people said that my guided thought speech worked really GOOD. I got big and pink inside and hid under a pillow, but my family pulled me out and told me I'm great until I said OK. I'm glad I can help people, but it's SCARY when people talk about how great I am. I KNOW it isn't true, but I FEEL like if I make a mistake instead of being great again they won't like me any more. I need to be braver!
We're going to do another class next week, so I need to practice my speech to make sure I do it RIGHT again. You can do it, Samuel!
I did more SKATEBOARDING and didn't get hurt at all. My mouth isn't sore, but I think it looks bad to not have all those teeth and I don't like looking in the mirror. Rei said lots of kids have missing teeth, even a whole bunch at once, so it doesn't make me less cute, but I still don't like it. Now some teeth on the bottom on that side are wiggly too. Grow faster, new teeth! I don't want to have no teeth and eat only soup!
I still don't know what to think about kids my age going on DATES and maybe doing snogs. Flower-gram asked why I was BLUE, so I sat on her and told her, and she gave me really good GRAM PETS and said she knows it's hard because her kitten Lucky 14 had to grow up slower than his friends. She said he liked playing sweethearts already when he was Dmitri's age, so he didn't feel LEFT OUT of everything. I don't know if I will. That's only 2 1/2 years. But that's 1/4 of my WHOLE LIFE so far, so maybe I'll change my mind a lot even if I don't think so now.
I talked to Number-dad too, and he said it's OK if my friends want to do stuff that I don't. They don't want to run a zoo. As long as we love each other and like doing SOME things together, we'll be good friends. That made me feel better. I said I still think doing snogs is WEIRD and he froofled my head and told me about when he got mad at his moms for doing snogs with people and they SQUISHED him. We made fried green rice and curry potatoes together, because cooking is lots better than fighting with your parents.
When Tiny Squeak practices her SIT UPS, we put her legs right so she can learn what it FEELS like. We can't tell her because she doesn't know how words or legs work yet. Today, she got her legs right ALL BY HERSELF. You're really sitting up now, Mlle. Squeaks! We all cheered and clapped and then she FELL OVER, but now she knows how to do it.
